Mrs. Ernest Homeyer served as organist and accompanied the Caldwell Brethren Church choir as they sang "In the Garden" and "My Faith Looks Up to Thee". Mrs. Drgac passed away Tuesday, September 26, in St. Joseph Hospital in Bryan. She had been a patient there since September 4. She had always enjoyed good health until October 1956, when she fell and fractured her hip. Since then, she needed someone to care for her. She was up and about in the house, but was confined to bed in the hospital for 22 days.
Born in Wesley, Texas on May 24, 1877 to Joseph and Annie Skrivanek, she moved with her parents to Burleson County when she was three years old, and spent all of the rest of her life in this county. She was confirmed in the New Tabor Church on May 20, 1894. She served as Sunday School teacher and was always active in church work. She was a lifetime member of the Brethren Church and was also member of the Mutual Aid Society.
On November 20, 1898 she was married to John K. Drgac by the Rev. Mr. Opicencky. The couple observed their 57th wedding anniversary several months before Mr. Drgac preceded her in death on June 15, 1955. Five children were born to this union, and one infant daughter also preceded her mother in death.
Mrs. Drgac enjoyed working with flowers, sewing, cooking, and especially loved her grandchildren.
Survivors include one son, Alvin Drgac of Caldwell; three daughters, Miss Lydia Drgac, Miss Annie Laurie Drgac and Mrs. William (Mildred) Crnkovic, all of Caldwell; four grandchildren, Billy, John Bart and Joe Dan Crnkovic, and Douglas Drgac; two brothers, Joe and Frank Skrivanek, both of Caldwell; and two sisters, Mrs. Rosie and Mrs. Annie Marek, both of Caldwell.
