Obituary:

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday in the Delhomme Funeral Home for Joseph (Joe) P. Logan, 58, who died at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at the Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital following a brief illness. Rev. Wallace Palmer, Pastor of the Northside Baptist Church, will conduct the funeral services.

Interment will be in the Lafayette Masonic Cemetery.

Mr. Logan was a native of Morgan City, the son of the late Ethel Lytton Logan and Luta Marion Walter. He had resided in Lafayette for the past 28 years. Mr. Logan was employed by the Southern Pacific Railroad as an electrician, retiring in 1965 after working for them fifteen years. He was a veteran of World War II serving with the U.S. Army National Guard. He was active in the Louisiana National Guard serving for thirty-three years before his retirement as a Lt. Colonel. He was an honorary member of the National Guard Association of Louisiana and the United States. He was a member of the American Legion Post No. 69 - Stanley Martin Felix Ducrest; the Hope Lodge No. 145 F&AM, The International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers, a member of the Northside Baptist Church and was active in Boy Scout activities.

He is survived by his widow, the former Effie Tanner of Lafayette; one daughter, Kelly Ann Logan of Lafayette; two sons, Patrick J. Logan and Glen T. Logan, both of Lafayette; six sisters, Mrs. Frank (Ethel) Chopin of Lafayette, Mrs. Jack (Marion) Dungan of McComb, Miss., Mrs. Harry (Edres) Esteve of New Orleans, Mrs. Thomas (Myri) Pennick of McGhee, Arkansas, Mrs. Louis (Isabelle) Bouy of New Orleans and Mrs. Roy (Eloise) Carricut of Lafayette; three brothers, Lytton Logan of St. Joseph, Mich., John B. Logan of Baton Rouge and Frank W. Logan of Houston, Texas.

The family requests that visiting hours be observed from 9:30a.m. to 10 p.m. Wednesday and from 7 a.m. to service time Thursday.

American Legion Memorial services will be held at 8:30 p.m. Wednesday in the funeral home.

The Delhomme Funeral Home is in charge of funeral arrangements.

LAFAYETTE - Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am on Thursday, October 11, 2012 in the Delhomme Chapel of the Flowers for Effie Tanner Logan, 91, who passed away on October 9, 2012 at 12:40 am at Courtyard Manor.

Reverend Sam Blaylock, Pastor of Northside Baptist Church, will conduct the funeral services.

Burial will take place in Lafayette Masonic Cemetery.

Mrs. Logan, a resident of Lafayette, LA, was the daughter of the late James Walton Tanner of Indianola, Mississippi and the former Lillian LeBlanc of Broussard, Louisiana. She was a WWII Veteran, serving in the Army Nurse Corps. Effie was a member of the American Legion, American Nurses Association, the Association of Operating Room Nurses and the District IV Louisiana Nurses Association where she was president from 1957 to 1959. She was a past member of Northside Baptist Church and a current member of First Baptist Church of Lafayette. After the war, she started her nursing career at St. Anne's Infirmary. During her career, she worked at Our Lady of Lourdes, Lafayette Charity Hospital and Cypress Hospital. For a brief period of time, she worked as a home health nurse. She held her Registered Nurse license for the past 70 years.

She is survived by one daughter, Kelly L. Rhodes of Lafayette, LA, and companion Mark Bolner; two sons, Patrick J. Logan and wife Louise of Lafayette, LA and Glenn T. Logan of Alexandria, VA; six grandchildren, Kimberly Logan, Brian Logan, Lindsay Logan, Thomas Rhodes, Taylor Rhodes and Renee Box; and two great grandchildren, Dylan Logan and Caleb McClellan.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Joseph Logan, one grandchild, Eric Logan, one sister, Doris Tanner, and two brothers, James Russell Tanner and Robert Tanner.

The family requests that visiting hours be observed at Delhomme Funeral Home of Lafayette on Wednesday, October 10, 2012 from 4:00 pm until 9:00 pm and on Thursday from 8:00 am until the time of service.

Pallbearers will be Brian Logan, Thomas Rhodes, Michael Arceneaux, Lee Carricut, Mark Bolner, and Bill Prudhomme.

The family would like to thank Griswold Home Care, Our Lady of Lourdes 3rd floor nursing staff, Courtyard Retirement and Courtyard Nursing Home and Hospice of Acadiana.

Funeral services will be held at 4 p.m. tomorrow in the Delhomme Funeral Home Chapel for Mrs. J.W. Tanner, 71, who died at 11:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital after a brief illness. The Rev. Wallace Palmer, pastor of the Northside Baptist Church, will conduct the services.

Burial will be in the Sacred Heart Cemetery, Broussard.

Mrs. Tanner, the former Lillian LeBlanc, was the daughter of the late Clet LeBlanc and Azina Vincent. She was a native of Broussard, but had lived in Lafayette for the past 30 years, residing at 514 Evangeline Drive at the time of her death.

She is survived by one daughter, Mrs. Joseph P. Logan of Lafayette; two sons, James R. Tanner of San Antonio, Tex., and Robert Lee Tanner of New Orleans; nine grandchildren; and one great grandchild.

The family requests that visiting hours be observed until 11 p.m. tonight and from 7 a.m. to service time Thursday.
