    Obituary:

    Funeral services for Joan Frances Sistrunk, 78, will be held on Friday, August 5, 2022 at 1:00 p.m. at Rose-Neath Funeral Home, 2500 Southside Dr., Shreveport, Louisiana. Burial will follow at Forest Park West Cemetery, 4000 Meriwether Rd. in Shreveport. A visitation will be held Thursday, August 4, 2022 from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Officiating the service will be Rev. Andrew Goff of St. Luke?s United Methodist Church.

    Joan was born on April 22, 1944 to William Cowper Brown, WWII veteran that served in Italy, and Ivy Oleta Swint Brown at Barksdale Air Force Base in Bossier City, Louisiana and passed away on Saturday, July 30, 2022 in Shreveport.

    Joan was a resident of Shreveport and worked in the banking industry before retiring as a Bookkeeping Manager. She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star, VFW Ladies Auxilary, Daughters of the Nile, and St. Luke?s Methodist Church. She was married to the love of her life, Virgil Wayne Sistrunk for 59 wonderful years. They shared a beautiful life together. Joan loved to travel and loved animals. She had four furbabies named Jasmine Rose, Andrew Lloyd Webber, Patrick Oliver and Caspurr Boo the Friendly Cat, whom she loved dearly.

    Joan is preceded in death by her parents; her Aunt Martha Huggins and Aunt ?Sister,? her Uncle Clyde Swint and Uncle Arthur Swint; and cousin, Mary Huggins. Left to cherish her memory is her husband, Wayne, and her four furbabies.

    Serving Joan as honorary pallbearers will be the men of St. Luke?s United Methodist Church and the Fellowship Sunday School Class of St. Luke?s United Methodist Church.

    The family suggests memorials may be made to Shriners Hospital for Children.
