    Funeral services honoring the life of June Flowers Moore will be held at 11:30 a.m., Saturday, August 26, 2023, at Broadmoor Baptist Church, 4110 Youree Drive, Shreveport, Louisiana. Officiating the service will be Frank Gunn II assisted by Dr. Chuck Pourciau and Dr. Tom Harrison. A visitation will be held prior to the service at 10:00 a.m. at the church. Interment will immediately follow the service in Centuries Memorial Park, 8801 Mansfield Road, Shreveport, Louisiana.

    June Flowers Moore was born September 13, 1949, in Shreveport, Louisiana to Billy Ray and Cloyce Flowers and passed away peacefully, Thursday, August 24, 2023.

    Mrs. Moore was a math teacher for over 20 years and went into administration for over 10 years at Caddo Magnet High School. After retirement, she kept serving as math tutor, Sunday school teacher, and secretary at LSUS BCM. Because of her love for Jesus, June was a selfless, giving person that went out of her way to do what was best for the people around her. Her heart-felt cards and letters of encouragement were a special blessing to so many. She mentored countless young women, but her favorite titles were "wifey", "mom", and "JuJu".

    Left to cherish her memory are her loving husband of 51 years, T-Willie Moore; daughters, Karen Watson and husband, Jonathan, and Janet Hamilton and husband, Parker; grandchildren, Kate (14), Brynlee (12), and Camryn (10) Hamilton, and Emma (13), Abby (12), Nathan (10), and Jude (7) Watson; sisters, Linda Smith and her family, and Patsy Benton; and brother, Buster Flowers and his family.

    Honoring Mrs. Moore as pallbearers will be Patrick Spell, Jamey Droddy, Scott Sevier, David Werntz, Rex Scott, and Jared Osborne.

    Johnnie Edgar Moore, born February 11, 1906, died June 5, 2010 at Winn Parish Medical Center after a long illness. He was preceded in death by his wife of 73 years Frances Houston Moore; his parents Sallie Elizabeth Oliver Moore and George Washington Moore; three brothers Thurmon, George, and Herman Moore; two sisters Vera Grimmett and Theodus Lyles; and daughter-in-law Hazel Moore.

    He is survived by his sons and daughters-in-law John Earl and Jon Dell Moore, Bobby and Fran Moore, Tommy and Mary Moore, Jerry Moore, and Clyde "T-Willie" and June Moore; and one sister Sarah Smart along with 11 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren, and 1 great-great-grandchild.

    The funeral will be held at Southern Funeral Home in Winnfield, LA on Tuesday, June 8, 2010 at 10:00 am with the Reverend Danny Keyes officiating and burial will be at Forest Park Cemetery in Shreveport, LA at 2:00 PM with Dr. Tom Harrison officiating. Visitation will be Monday, June 7 at Southern Funeral Home from 5-8 pm. Pallbearers are Wayne Melton, Jeff Horn, Weyman Clark, Robert Howell, Bill Bohannon, and Rusty Melton. Honorary pallbearers are Glenn Davis, James Sandifer, and Glenn Melton.

    A special thanks to Dr. Eric Dupree and the medical staff at Winn Parish Medical Center and Winn Home Health and to sitters Dorothy Brown, Mary Bishop, and Teresa Bartley for their care of Mr. Johnnie and Mrs. Frances for several years.

    SHREVEPORT, LA - Frances Houston Moore, age 99, went to be with the Lord on Thursday, June 18, 2009. Graveside services will be held Forest Park Cemetery at 11:00 am at Forest Park Cemetery. Dr. Tom Harrison of Broadmoor Baptist Church, where Frances has been a member throughout her adulthood, will officiate.

    Frances was preceded in death by her parents Cora Dance and Isaac Houston as well as her brother Earl Houston and sister Lucille Houston Maurer. Frances is survived by her husband of 73 years, Johnnie Edgar Moore (age 103), their five sons and their spouses; John Earl and Jon Dell Moore, Bobby and Fran Moore, Tommy and Mary Moore, Jerry and Hazel Moore, and T-Willie and June Moore as well as eleven grandchildren and fourteen great-grandchildren. Memorials may be made to Broadmoor Baptist Church.

    I.N. Houston Succumbs to Illness Here

    Funeral Services Scheduled Today

    Isaac Newton Houston, 77, local business executive for many years, died at his home at 8888 Mansfield Rd. at 9:05 a.m. Sunday after a long illness.

    He was president of the Central Wholesale Co., a building materials firm located at 2730 Linwood Ave. He was the senior deacon in the First Baptist Church, and was a past member of the Shreveport Rotary Club.

    Mr. Houston was a native of Sarepta, but had resided in Shreveport since 1912, when he moved here from Good Pine. His first wife, Cora Dance, whom he married in 1904, died in 1935. the second Mrs. Houston, nee Clara Brock, whom he married in 1938, died in 1941.

    Funeral services will be held at the Osborn Chapel at 10 a.m. Monday. Dr. James W. Middleton, pastor of the First Baptist Church will officiate, assisted by the Rev. Harold Bennett. Burial will follow at Forest Park Cemetery.

    Pallbearers will be Gus Brandt, Herman W. Moore, Jack W. Martin, David A. Schoolfield, Mason L. Burrough, and Billy G. Irvan.

    Honorary pallbearers will be deacons and directors of the First Baptist Church.

    Mr. Houston is survived by one son, Earl L. Houston; two daughters, Mrs. Carl B. Maurer and Mrs. Johnnie Moore, all of Shreveport; Mrs. Ben Pugh, Sarepta, and Mrs. Porter Cochran, of Springhill; two brothers, V.E. Houston, Shreveport, and Lee Houston, of Sarepta; 11 grandchildren and a number of nephews and nieces.

    MRS. HOUSTON RITES TODAY

    Wife of Prominent Lumberman Will Be Buried in Forest Park

    Last rites for Mrs. Cora Dance Houston, 60, wife of I.N. Houston, prominent local lumberman, who died in a local sanitarium at 4 p.m. Tuesday, will be held from the First Baptist church at 10 a.m. today, the Rev. M.E. Dodd officiating. Interment will be in the Forest Park cemetery under the direction of Osborne's funeral home.

    Mrs. Houston was born in Columbus, Texas, Feb. 7, 1875. Later with her parents she moved to Queen City, Ark., and later to Stamps, Ark. She was employed in Stamps by the Bodcaw Lumber company. She was married in Queen City in 1904. The couple moved to Shreveport in 1912. Mrs. Houston had been an active member of the First Baptist church since that time.

    Surviving besides the widower, are a son, Earl Lafayette Houston, and two daughters, Miss Frances Eloise Houston and Lucile Dance Houston, one sister Mrs. J.E. Ellington of Queen City, Ark., and one brother, H.P. Dance, of Lake Wales, Fla.

    Active pallbearers will be F.W. Bowen, J.O. Cupples, Claire C. Clark, J.M. Robinson, John L. Avery, Glenn Alfred, R.N. Allen and R.E. Jacobs. Honorary pallbearers will be deacons and directors of the First Baptist church.
