    Ernest J. Pace died Friday, July 24, 2015, at the Veterans Nursing Home in Jackson. He was 86.

    Mr. Pace was born in Smackover, AR and resided in Vicksburg, MS from 1969 until 2015. He retired after 26 years of service with International Paper Company in 1994, where he was an electrician.

    He was preceded in death by his wife of 49 years, Virginia Houston Pace, parents Eddie Ernest Pace and Louella Benton Pace and sister, Edith Pace.

    He is survived by one son, Ernest Glenn Pace of Westland, MI, two daughters, Linda Carroll Wells of Ridgeland, MS and Lea Ann Bethany of Clinton, MS and two grandchildren, Cary Trammell of Ridgeland, MS and Grace Bethany of Clinton, MS, four sisters, Edwina and Pat Pace from Searcy, AR, Doris Desoto and Charlotte Vinson from El Dorado, AR and one brother, James Pace of McNeil, AR,.

    Visitation will be in held Vicksburg, MS at Glenwood Funeral Home, 10 am, Monday, July 27th, with service following at 11:00 am.

    Virginia Lee Pace died Tuesday, Dec. 6, 2005, at River Region Medical Center. She was 72.

    Mrs. Pace was a native of Sarepta, La., and had lived in Vicksburg since 1969. She taught and substituted in home economics for 25 years in the Vicksburg Public Schools. She was a member of Calvary Baptist Church and the Teachers Association.

    She was preceded in death by her parents, Lazarus Lee Houston and Nova Mitchell Houston and two sisters, Martha Ashworth and Thelma O'Glee.

    She is survived by her husband, Ernest Pace of Vicksburg one son, Glenn Pace of Detroit two daughters, Linda Trammell of Ridgeland and LeaAnn Bethany of Clinton two sisters, Caroll Youngblood of Houston, Texas, and Mary Fielder of Shreveport, La. and two grandchildren.

    Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Glenwood Funeral Home with the Revs. Dwight Sibley and Macon Phillips officiating. Burial will follow at Green Acres Memorial Park. Visitation will be from 5 until 7 tonight at the funeral home.

    Pallbearers will be Cary Trammell, Chuck Bethany, Terry Ashworth, Gil Ashworth, Seth Vinson and Randy DeSoto.

    Memorials may be made to the St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105-1942.

    Lee L. Houston Rites Held Sunday

    Funeral services were held Sunday at 4 p.m. for Lee L. Houston, 64, of Sarepta at the New Sarepta Baptist Church with the Rev. R. O. Bazer officiating.

    Burial was in the Old Sarepta Cemetery under the direction of Norton's Funeral Home of Springhill.

    Mr. Houston died at his home in Sarepta on Saturday, Sept. 1.

    He is survived by his widow, five daughters, Thelma Houston, Virginia Houston and Fannie Houston, all of Sarepta, Mrs. M.J. Fielder of Shreveport and Mrs. H.L. Ashworth of Greenwood, Miss, two sisters, Mrs. Porter Cochran of Springhill and Mrs. S.B. Pugh of Sarepta, and one brother, V.E. Houston of Shreveport, and four grandchildren.

    SAREPTA - Nova Leona Houston, 81, of Sarepta died Friday night in Bossier Healthcare Center after a long illness.

    The funeral will be at 2 p.m. today in New Sarepta Baptist Church with the Rev. Richard May officiating. Burial will be in Old Sarepta Cemetery under the direction of Bailey Mortuary of Springhill.

    Survivors include five daughters, Thelma O'Glee of Sarepta, Mary Fielder of Shreveport, Martha Ashworth of Marks, Miss., Virginia Pace of Vicksburg, Miss., and Carroll Youngblood of Ocean Springs, Miss.; and one brother, J.D. Mitchell of Shongaloo.

    Lazarus L. Houston, 84-year old pioneer resident of this section and the head of a large and prominent North Louisiana family, died at his home near Sarepta, La. Mr. Houston was born near Cuthbert, Randolph County, Ga. The son of Samuel T. and Esther Martin Houston. He was the sixth of a family of 13 children. When a boy he moved with his parents to Webster Parish, La., where they settled on a homestead tract near Sarepta. There his mother gave the name Sarepta to the town that sprang up near their home. Mr. Lazarus L. (Lat) remained until his death on the Houston homestead where he and his wife reared a large family. He was married March 16, 1871, to Fannie Viola Campbell. His wife and ten children survive him. He was a devout member of the Baptist Church."

Houston, of Shreveport, and a sister.

    PIONEER WOMAN DIES AT SAREPTA

    Mother of Local Resident Dies After Illness of One Month.

    Funeral services for Mrs. Fannie Campbell Houston, 76, widow of the late L.L. Houston, were held Saturday afternoon at Sarepta, Webster parish. Mrs. Houston, who is the mother of G.O. Houston, assistant superintendent of Caddo parish schools, died Friday afternoon at her home near Sarepta. Mrs. Houston was the mother of 16 children, 10 of who survive her.

    Mrs. Houston's husband died four months ago. Mr. and Mrs. Houston were pioneer residents of Webster parish. Mrs. Houston became ill a month ago and her death was expected.

    Mrs. Houston was Miss Fannie Viola Campbell. She was born at Rocky Mount, Bossier parish, Sept. 1, 1854. She was married March 16, 1871.

    Survivors are the following sons and daughters: Dr. W.M. Houston, El Dorado, Ark.; I.N., L., G.O. and V.E. Houston, all of Shreveport; Lee L. Houston, Sarepta; Mrs. J.F. Adkins, Cotton Valley, La.; Mrs. G.E. Hodges, Shreveport; Mrs. Porter Cochran, Sarepta; Mrs. S.B. Pugh, Sarepta. A brother, the Rev. T.M. Campbell, of Shongaloo, 43 grandchildren and nine great grandchildren also survive.

    Funeral services were conducted by the Rev. Joel McCann at the Sarepta Baptist church where Mrs. Houston was a member.
