    GRAND COTEAU- A Mass of Christian Burial will be held for Mary Nelwyn "Nellie" Devalcourt Gautreaux at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, November 26, 2019, in the St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church in Grand Coteau. Rite of committal will follow in the St. Charles Mausoleum.

    Mrs. Nellie, age 87, a resident of Sunset, passed away peacefully on Saturday, November 23, 2019 at Prompt Succor Nursing Home.

    Mrs. Nellie was a resident of Prompt Succor Nursing Home for the last 6 ½ years where she enjoyed playing bingo and drinking coffee with her friends. She was a dedicated parishioner of St. Charles Church in Grand Coteau. Mrs. Nellie was a breast cancer survivor of 31 years. What she treasured most was making memories with her family and spending time at the camp with Jonell and James. She will be greatly missed by her family, friends and all who knew and loved her.

    She is survived by her daughters, Jonell Gautreaux Guidry and husband, James of Sunset, LA, Charisse Ann Gautreaux LeBlanc and husband, Bobby of Florien, LA; 4 grandchildren, Lainie Ramon, Andre LeBlanc, Bobby LeBlanc, Jr. and Elly LeBlanc; 3 great-grandchildren, Anthony Ramon, Alex Ramon and Elysse LeBlanc; and a special "adopted grandson", Ben Robin.

    She was preceded in death by her husband, John Gautreaux; parents, Theodore "Toot" Devalcourt and Elodie Guilbeau Devalcourt; brothers, Herschiel Devalcourt, Creighton Devalcourt and Carroll Devalcourt; and sister, Mildred Devalcourt Phillips.

    Visitation will be held from 11:00 a.m. until 9:00 p.m. on Monday, November 25, 2019 in the Sibille Funeral Home in Opelousas. A rosary service will be recited at 6:30 p.m. The funeral home will reopen for visitation from 8:00 a.m. until 9:30 a.m. on Tuesday.

    The family would like to extend thanks to Prompt Succor Nursing Home, Dr. Gary Blanchard, Dr. Hunt Deblanc, Dr. Usman Alam and Grace Hospice for all the love and care they showed to Mrs. Nellie.
