    Obituary:

Clyda Alice Haddock was born July 28, 1921 in East Prairie, Missouri.

She and her parents Ruby and Clyde Witford Haddock moved to Groves, Tx when she was around 10 years old. Pappaw Haddock always called her "Runt". He had nicknames for all of us that followed.

She attended Thomas Jefferson High School, was a beautiful debutant and planned to go to the university of Wyoming, but then she met Bruce Phenix and fell in love.

She married Bruce Clark Phenix on March 14, 1941. Soon after, he served his country in the U.S. Army most notably D-Day and thereafter, and in later years he became Colonel Bruce Phenix. Clyda was a war bride of WWII, and she loved to travel with her husband after her children were grown. She and Bruce were married 62 years until Bruce's death in December of 2003.

Clyda and Bruce had 3 children: Rodney, Karen and Ken, 8 grandchildren, Rachel Rollins, Brien Phenix, Katy Mayo, Matt Mayo, Lauren Capeheart, Andy Phenix, Emily Phenix, Eric Phenix, and 6 great grandchildren, Slade Rollins, Josh Meyer, Molly Meyer, Blake Phenix, Celeste Mayo, and Vivienne Mayo.

Clyda was a home maker, a seamstress of the highest caliber, a cunning bridge player, treasurer and president of the Alpha Omega Sunday School class at First United Methodist Church Beaumont, a devout tennis fan (she and Bruce attended Wimbledon in the 80's). She had intense blue eyes, that saw and understood more than she let on. She was frugal and shrewd, accurately balancing her check book in her mind and catching grocery store sales all over town. Her wit and generosity were boundless almost to a fault. Her love of her family was fierce, and enduring.

A gathering of Ms. Phenix's family and friends will be from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m., Thursday, July 12, 2018, at Broussard's, 2000 McFaddin Avenue, Beaumont. Her funeral service will be 10:00 a.m., Friday, July 13, 2018, at Broussard's with interment to follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park, 4955 Pine Street, Beaumont.
