    John Bennett "J.B." Kiefer, age 82, of Madisonville, Louisiana passed away on January 6th, 2019. J.B. was born on June 2, 1936 to parents Archie A. Kiefer and Ann Bograd Kiefer. J.B. graduated from Isidore Newman School, Tulane University, and Tulane University School of Law. He worked as an Assistant City Attorney for the City of New Orleans under Mayor Victor H. Schiro before joining the law firm of Graham, Kiefer & Arceneaux. J. B. served as a delegate to the Louisiana Constitutional Convention in 1973 and on the New Orleans United States Bicentennial Commission in 1976. J.B. later formed the Law Offices of J.B. Kiefer and then Kiefer & Rudman. After retiring from the practice of law, he relocated to Santa Rosa Beach, Florida, where he operated "The French Laundry" dry cleaning business with his wife Ann Bonin Kiefer.

    J.B. had lifetime passions for gardening, fishing, sports and all things involving the water and he instilled a love of those pursuits in each of his children and grandchildren.

    J.B. is predeceased by his parents, Archie A. Kiefer and Ann Bograd Kiefer, grandparents Fannie Durman Bograd and Isadore Bograd, and Uncles Nathan "Nat" Bograd and Louis "Lou" Bograd (Flo). He is survived by his wife Ann Bonin Kiefer, his mother-in-law, Joyce Bonin, his brother Eric Bograd Kiefer, his children (with Ann B. Harris): Sheree Simon (Craig), Scott Kiefer (Blaine), Shayna Trosclair (Donovan), and Shawn Kiefer (Judith), step daughters Meredith Boehm and Mallory and Margot Messina, eight grandchildren, Shelby, Austin and Hayden Simon, Chandler and Caitlyn Trosclair, Jacob Kiefer, and Gus and Lee Kiefer, a host of other family and friends and his beloved canine companion "Coco".

    The family has made arrangements for a private funeral service. A visitation for family and close friends will be held on Sunday, January 13, 2019.

    In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations in J.B.'s name be made to the New Orleans Botanical Foundation, 1 Palm Drive, New Orleans, LA 70124, or Bridge House/Grace House, 4150 Earhart Boulevard, New Orleans, Louisiana 70125.
