Obituary:

Funeral services were held Tuesday, June 19, 2007 at 10 a.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church for Steve N. Matte, 35, of Rayne, who died Saturday, June 16, 2007 at 1 a.m. at the American Legion Hospital in Crowley.

Burial was in St. Joseph Cemetery #2 in Rayne. Father Bill Ruskoski officiated at the services.

He is survived by his wife, Dina Matte of Rayne, two daughters, Hailey and Allie Matte both of Rayne, his parents, Zena Jr. and Linda Matte of Rayne, a sister and her husband, Dawn and Christopher Spears of Lafayette, his father and mother-in-law Wilbert and Patsy Chiasson of Rayne and other family members.

He was preceded in death by his maternal grandmother, Enola C. Richard, maternal grandfather Herman LeDoux, and paternal grandparents, Zola and Zena Matte Sr.

Steve was a 1990 graduate of Rayne High School. He was the owner and operator of Lawns and More for the past seven years. He has also been employed at Duhon Funeral Home for three years. On the weekends he could be found boiling crawfish at the Crawfish Hut or preparing entrees at Chef Roy's.

Duhon Funeral Home of Rayne was in charge of arrangements.
