    Emmitt J. "Buck" Ross Jr., 76, of Victoria passed into the loving arms of his Lord and Savior on Thursday, July 2, 2009. He was born Sept. 7, 1932, in College Station, to the late Emmitt and Albina Frances Blazek Ross.

    Emmitt served his country in the U.S. Army. After receiving an honorable discharge he entered college, and graduated with a Bachelor of Arts from Texas A&M in 1960. He was employed by King Fisher Marine and retired as office manager.

    Emmitt was the neighborhood grandfather and watchdog, jobs which he took very seriously along with keeping his yard beautiful. He was a member of Baptist Temple Church.

    Survivors include his sons, James Douglas Ross of Houston, and Michael Scott Ross and his wife Jill of Victoria; beloved grandson, Mason Connor Ross; sisters, Mickey Gandy of Brownwood, Patsy Sargent of Denison, Helen Kennon of Houston, Sue Flato of Corpus Christi, and Dianne Feldman of College Station; brothers, Robert L. Ross of Anderson and J. D. Ross of East Bernard; and his faithful four-legged companion, Bitzi.

    In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of more than 48 years, Norma Jean Sebesta Ross; a daughter, Cheryl Jean Ross; two sisters, Nell Ross Summerlin and Irene Ross Miller.

    Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m., Tuesday, July 7, 2009, at Rosewood Funeral Chapels. Memorial services will be at 10 a.m., Wednesday, July 8, 2009, at Rosewood Funeral Chapels, the Rev. J. V. Helms officiating.

    Jean Ross was born December 25, 1933, near Caldwell, Texas, and departed this life on January 12, 2005, for her heavenly home. Awaiting her arrival is her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Also her daughter, Cheryl Jean Ross, parents Frank B. and Ella Rose Sebesta, brother Franklin J. Sebesta, parent-in-law Emmett and Frances Ross, sister-in-law Nell Ross Summerlin and many other relatives and friends.

    Left to cherish her memory is her husband of 48+ years Emmitt J. Ross, Jr., sons James Douglas Ross of Houston, Michael Scott Ross and wife Jill East Ross of Victoria, and the 'apple of her eye,' grandson Mason Connor Ross of Victoria. Sisters-in-law Pat Sebesta Tompkins of Cooks Point, TX; Helen Kennon of Houston; Sue Flato of Corpus Christi; and Diane Feldman of College Station. Sisters-in-laws and brothers-in-laws Mickey and James Gandy of Brownwood; Pat and Dub Sargent of Pottsboro; Brother-in-law and sister-in-law J.D. and Lorraine Ross of East Bernard; a very special Brother-in-law and sister-in-law R.L. "Bob" and Ann Ross of Navasota, Tx., and many other cousins, nieces, nephews, dear friends, and her faithful four-legged companion, Bitzi.

    After raising her family, which always came first, Jean worked for many years as a sales associate for Rings & Things of Victoria.

    Visitation will be held from 6 to 8 pm on Friday, January 14, 2005 at Rosewood Funeral Chapel. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, January 15, 2005 1:30 pm conducted by the Reverend J.V. Helms.

    Per Jean's request, in lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Music Ministry of Baptist Temple Church, Victoria, Texas.

    Serving as honorary pallbearers will be the members and former members of the Good News Bible Study Class of Baptist Temple Church.

    CALDWELL - Frank B. Sebesta, 68, father of Mrs. Norma Jean Ross of Victoria, died Monday at 6:15 p.m. at his home at 304 Dillard St. in Caldwell after an illness of about three weeks.

    Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Caldwell Brethren Church with the Rev. Henry Beseda and the Rev. Daniel Marek officiating. Burial will be in San Antonio Prairie Cemetery under direction of Phillips-Luckey Funeral Home of Caldwell.

    Mr. Sebesta was born Ja. 15, 1908, and was a lifelong resident of Caldwell. He was a member of Brethren Church and had served on the board of elders for many years. He was a member of SPJST Lodge No. 7 at San Antonio Prairie.

    He was a retired farmer and at one time was employed for a period of 13 years in the maintenance department of Texas Department of Highways and Public Transportation.

    Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Ella Rose Sebesta; a son, Franklin J. Sebesta of Caldwell; a daughter, Mrs. Ross of Victoria; a brother, Joe F. Sebesta of Caldwell; three sisters, Mrs. Stanely Pertl and Mrs. Ernest Deutsch of Caldwell and Mrs. Dan Wolff of Beaumont; and four grandchildren.

    Funeral Service For Mrs. Ross Held At Rockdale

    Mrs. Sallie Lockley Ross, 86, passed away at the home of her daughter, Mrs. W. M. Rice in Rockdale on September 25 and funeral services were held at Philip-Luckey Funeral Chapel in Rockdale at 3 p.m. on Wednesday, the 26th. Rev. R. L. Brown, pastor of the First Baptist Church in Hearne officiated, assisted by Rev. O. J. Margin of Rockdale.

    Interment was in the Harmony cemetery, south of Rockdale, by the side of her late husband, David Ross, a veteran of the Confederate Army.

    Eight children survive, they are four daughters, Mrs. A. L. Rosprim of College Station, Mrs. Rufus Breland, Navasota, Mrs. Walter Jerich of Millican and Mrs. W. M. Rice of Rockdale.

    Four sons, E. L. Ross, Sweetwater, W. J. Ross of Rockdale, J. M. Ross of Milano and E. J. Ross of College Station.

    Other survivors are 41 grandchildren, 66 great grandchildren and 6 great great grandchildren.

    Funeral Services For Mrs. Sallie Ross, 86, Held Wednesday

    Mrs. Sallie Frances Ross, age 86, passed away in the early hours of Tuesday morning at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Milton Rice.

    Funeral services were held Wednesday afternoon from the chapel of Phillips & Luckey funeral home with the Rev. R. L. Brown, pastor of the Baptist church at Hearne officiating. The assisting minister was Rev. O. J. Morgan. Burial was made in the Harmony cemetery south of Rockdale. Grandsons served as casket attendants.

    Mrs. Ross was born in Burleson county, Texas, near Chriesman on July 16, 1865. She was married to D. A. Ross in 1880 at Caldwell, and thirteen children were born to the couple, eight of whom survive.

    Mrs. Ross had lived in Milam county for long years, and for the past four years had made her home with Mr. and Mrs. Rice. For the past two years she had been an invalid. She was a member of the Christian church.

    There survive the following sons and daughters: W. J. Ross of Rockdale, E. L. Ross of Sweetwater, J. M. Ross of Milano, E. J. Ross of College Station, Mrs. W. M. Rice of Rockdale, Mrs. Walter Jericho of Millican, Mrs. Rufus Breland of Navasota, Mrs. A. L. Rosprim of College Station; also 40 grandchildren and 66 great-grandchildren.
