    SHREVEPORT - Services for Mr. Lester E. Houston, 69, of Shreveport, will be held at 2:30 p.m. Saturday August 9 at Rose-Neath's Marshall Street Chapel. Dr. N.O. Pugh, pastor of Senior Adults of First Baptist Church of Shreveport, will officiate, assisted by the Rev. Charles E. Houston, pastor of Gateway Baptist Church of San Antonio, Texas. Burial will be at Forest Park Cemetery.

    Mr. Houston died Thursday August 7, 1986, at Schumpert Medical Center after a lengthy illness. He was born in Colquitt, La. and had been a resident of Shreveport most of his life. Mr. Houston was a member of Morningside Baptist Church.

    He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Marceline G. Houston of Shreveport; three sons, Charles E. Houston of San Antonio, Texas, John R. Houston of Marshall, Texas and Gerald R. Houston of Ruston, La.; three step-children, Karen Carpenter of Tuscaloosa, Ala., Roger Slagle of Garland, Texas and Clay Slagle of Shreveport; one sister, Elizabeth H. Kelker of Shreveport; two brothers, Ottis Houston of Pontotoc, Miss. and David Houston of Baton Rouge, La.; and seven grandchildren.

    Mrs. Houston Rites Will Be Held Monday

    Funeral services for Mrs. Joyce B. Houston, 51, of 2627 Randolph St., will be held at 10 a.m. Monday in the Morningside Baptist Church.

    Burial will be in Forest Park Cemetery under direction of the Rose-Neath Funeral Home.

    Mrs. Houston died at 4:20 p.m. Saturday in the Virginia Hall Annex after a long illness.

    She was a native of Jamestown, La., and had lived in Shreveport for the past 33 years. She was a member of Morningside Baptist Church. Officiating will be the Rev. C.I. Boyenga, pastor.

    Survivors include her husband, Lester E. Houston, Shreveport; three sons, Charles E. Houston, San Antonio, Tex, John Richard Houston, Lufkin, Tex., and Gerald Ray Houston, Shreveport; two brothers, Lloyd E. Bailiff, Doyline and Lavertt Bailiff, Heflin, and one grandchild.

    Vesta E. Houston, 81, of 651 W. 69th, died at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Willis-Knighton Hospital following a three-month illness.

    Mr. Houston, a retired contractor, was a native of Sarepta and had lived here for 51 years. He coached a little league baseball team and was a scoutmaster for many years.

    Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday in Calvary Baptist Church, by the Rev. W.D. Martin, church pastor. Burial will be in Forest Park West Cemetery under the direction of Rose-Neath Funeral Home.

    Survivors include his widow; three sons, Lester Houston of Shreveport, Ottis G. Houston of Brookhaven, Miss., and David L. Houston of Baton Rouge; a daughter, Mrs. Elizabeth Kelker of Shreveport; two sisters, Mrs. Grace Pugh of Sarepta and Mrs. Gertie Cochran of Springhill, 13 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren.
