    Delbert Jack Palmer, 96, of Center, passed away in the company of family and friends on Sunday, August 16, 2015, in Nacogdoches.

    Services will be 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, August 19, 2015 at Mangum Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Carl Smith officiating. Burial will follow at Oaklawn Memorial Park. Visitation will be Tuesday, August 18, 2015 from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Mangum Funeral Home.

    He was born March 25, 1919, in Shelby County to William James and Camilla Palmer. He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Center and attended Center High School. He served in the United States Army Air Corp with the Combat Crew #333 WWAAF, Walla Walla, WA. For several years, he worked for John G. Harris Hardware. Then Palmer Refrigeration was formed, and he worked there until the business was sold. After Palmer Refrigeration, he worked for E.L. Bruce Company until he retired. He enjoyed farming and visiting his friends and relatives. He was a loving husband and father, and friend to many. His grandchildren and great-grandchildren were the joy and delight of his life. He enjoyed driving to visit his nieces and nephews, friends and neighbors, and was always the life of the party. He remained very active until just a few weeks ago. He was very special to all and will be dearly missed.

    He is preceded in death by his Parents, William James and Camilla Ida Palmer, Wife, Dorothy Mary Palmer, Brother and Sister-in-law, Johnny Lee and Virginia Palmer and Sister and Brother-in-law, Zelma Adel and John Neal Lacy.

    Funeral for Dorothy Palmer, 88, of Center will be at 10 a.m. Friday, Oct. 24, 2008, at St. Therese Catholic Church, Center, with the Rev. Jose Luis officiating. Burial will be in Oaklawn Memorial Park. Mrs. Palmer died Oct. 20, 2008, at her residence. Born Aug. 22, 1920, in Port Arthur, she was the daughter of Paul and Ada Talbot Abshire. She was a member of St. Therese Catholic Church. Survivors include her husband, Delbert Palmer of Center; sons, Jack Palmer of Center and Kenneth Palmer of Houston; brothers, A.J. Abshire of Village Mills, Charles W. Abshire of Pasadena, Linwood James Abshire of Lumberton and Louis Edward Abshire of Port Neches; four grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. Visitation will be from 5 until 7 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 23, with rosary to be recited at 7 p.m. Mangum Funeral Home, Center.

    BRIDGE CITY - Rosary for Paul Abshire, 73, of 753 Avenue B, will be recited today at 8 p.m. in the Levingston Funeral home chapel in Groves. Funeral services will be held in St. Henry's Catholic church Monday at 10 a.m. with the Rev. Joseph Dazio, of St. Henry's, officiating. The Rev. Dale Calhoun of St. Pius Catholic church in Beaumont and the James Ingle of St. Anthony's Catholic church in Beaumont, will assist. Burial will be in Greenlawn Memorial park.

    Mr. Abshire died Saturday at 1:10 a.m. in Doctors hospital in Groves. He had lived in the area for 50 years and was an operator at Ameripol in Port Neches.

    BRIDGE CITY - Rosaries for Paul Abshire, 73, of 753 Avenue B in Bridge City, who died today at 1:10 a.m. in Doctors hospital after a short illness, will be recited today and Sunday at 8 p.m. in the Levingston Funeral home chapel in Groves. The Knights of Columbus and Legion of Mary from Bridge City will conduct the rosary Sunday.

    Funeral services will be held Monday at 10 a.m. in St. Henry's Catholic church with the Rev. Joseph Dazio, of St. Henry's, officiating. Assisting will be the Rev. Dale Calhoun of St. Pius Catholic church in Beaumont and the Rev. James Ingle of St. Anthony's Catholic church in Beaumont. Burial will be in Greenlawn Memorial park.

    A native of Kaplin, La., Mr. Abshire was an operator at Ameripol in Port Neches. He had lived in the area for 50 years. He was a member of St. Henry's Catholic churhc.

Abshire of Port Arthur, Charles Abshire of Houston, A.J. Abshire of Groves, Linwood Abshire of Port Neches, and Louis Abshire of Groves; three sisters, Mrs. E.J. Breaux of Port Arthur, Mrs. T. Morceaux of Gibson, La. and Mrs. L. LeBlanc of Nederland; two brothers, J.J. Abshire of Port Arthur and E.A. Abshire of Marrero, La., 23 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

    Pallbearers will be Paul White, Luther White, Jack Palmer, Kenneth Palmer, Gene Brown and Earl Keel.

    Resident 20 Years Dies Of Heart Trouble

    Mrs. Paul Abshire, 36, a resident of this section for 20 years, died of heart trouble yesterday at 6 p.m. at her home at Kolb's crossing after an illness of three weeks.

    Funeral services will be held Saturday at 10 a.m. at St. James Catholic church, of which she was a member. Burial will be in Calvary cemetery under direction of Grammier's.

    Mrs. Abshire was a native of Rayne, La.

    She is survived by her husband; two daughters, Mrs. J.M. White and Miss Dorothy Abshire; five sons, Abbie, A.J., Wilford, L.J. and L.E. Abshire, all of Kolb's crossing; her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Albert Talbot; two sisters, Mrs. E. Champagne and Mrs. Albert LeBouef; four brothers, E., F., W. and C. Talbot, all of Port Arthur; and one grandchild, James White of Kolb's crossing.
