    T. Sgt. Leo P. Borel, retired after serving twenty-seven years in the Army and Air Force, was one of the earliest men to be drafted from the Port Arthur area during World War II, and one who made the service a career, passed away February 11, 2012 in Austin, Texas.

Borel was drafted 1942 and underwent basic training at Ft. Knox, KY, before taking part in campaigns in North Africa, France, Belgium, the Netherlands, and Germany.
