Funeral services were held on Tuesday, February 12 at 10:00 a.m. in St. Joseph's Church for August Clement.

Burial followed the services, in the St. Joseph's Cemetery.

Mr. Clement was 68 years old at the time of his death on Monday, February 11 at 7:00 a.m.

Survivors include his wife, Florence Guidry Clement of Lake Charles; one daughter, Mrs. Deon Pryor of Rayne; one son, Ogden Clement of Pasadena, Texas; one sister, Mrs. Rena Broussard of Rayne; six grandchildren and one great grand child.

Autry Dixon
April 27, 1928 - September 18, 2012

Autry Dixon, 84, of Navasota, Texas passed away September 18, 2012 in Longview, Texas. A graveside service is scheduled for 11:00 a.m., Saturday, September 22, 2012 in the Fannette family plot at Wheat Cemetery, in Millican, Texas.

Autry was born April 27, 1928 in Stamps, Arkansas, the son of Joseph P. and Gladys (Nix) Dixon. He was an automotive painter for 37 years and owned his own paint and body shop.

He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers, one sister and his wife, Billie (Fannette) Dixon.

Survivors include his daughter and son-in-law, Priscilla and Kirby Pepper of Longview; son, A.P. Dixon, Jr. of Navasota; granddaughter, Nicole Rose Pepper of Longview; three brothers, William, Cecil and Marion all of Stamps, Arkansas; numerous nieces and nephews.

Feb. 16, 1923 - July 16, 1992

NAVASOTA - Funeral services for Avery M. Greer Jr., 69, of Millican will be at 10 a.m. today at Nobles Funeral Chapel.

The Rev. Henry Franklin will officiate. Burial will be in Peach Creek Cemetery in the Peach Creek community in Brazos County.

Mr. Greer died Thursday afternoon in St. Joseph Hospital in Bryan.

He was born in Brazos County and was a truck driver.

Survivors include his mother, Martha Mayo of Millican; a brother, William Hemenas of Kingsman, Ariz.; and many other relatives.

SEAGRAVES (Special) - Services for Burnis Homer High, 81, of Seagraves will be at 3 p.m. Friday at the Church of Christ here with Jerald Baldwin of Seagraves officiating.

Burial will be in Seagraves Cemetery under the direction of Connally Funeral Home of Seagraves.

High died about 11 a.m. Tuesday at his home following a brief illness.

In 1938 High moved from Seymour to Seagraves, where he was a clerk in a grocery store for many years. He was a veteran of World War I.

Survivors include his wife, Etta Rachel May; four sons, Ted of Seagraves, James of Kermit, Danny of California and Homer of Denver, Colo.; four daughters, Mrs. Emajon Mayfield of Odessa, Mrs. Maggie Bertron of Longmont, Colo., Mrs. Marie Barnes of Malaysia and Mrs. Juanita Rahl of Denver, Colo.; a brother, Opis of Wichita Falls; a sister, Miss Mattie High of Seymour; 23 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

Funeral services for B. L. Shelton, 69, Dibble, were at 2:30 p.m. today (Thursday) in the Free Will Baptist Church.

Shelton, a farmer-stockman until his retirement 15 years ago, died Tuesday in a Purcell hospital.

He was born July 27, 1893 in Marlow and moved to Dibble in 1920. He is a veteran of World War I.

Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Pearl Shelton of the home three sons, E. L. Shelton, Chickasha; Junior Shelton, Norman and Bobby Shelton of the home; five brothers, two sisters and two grandchildren.

Interment was in the Dibble cemetery under direction of Sevier's Funeral Home.

Funeral services for B. L. Shelton, 69, Dibble, will be at 2:30 p.m. Thursday in the Free Will Baptist Church.

Shelton died Tuesday evening in McCurday Hospital, Purcell.

He was born July 26, 1893, in Marlow and moved to Dibble in 1920. A World War I veteran, he was a farmer-stockman most of his life until his retirement 15 years ago.

Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Pearl Shelton, of the home address; three sons, E. L. Shelton, Chickasha; Junior Shelton, Norman, and Bobby Shelton of the home; two grandchildren; five brothers, Rube Shelton and Bunn Shelton of Edmond, and Odde Shelton, Claude Shelton and Leonard Shelton all of Lebanon; two sisters, Mrs. Johnnie Hall, Oklahoma City and Mrs. Beacher Shrader, Healdton.

Interment will be in the Dibble cemetery under direction of Sevier's Funeral Home.

B. Thurston Childs

Mr. B. Thurston Childs, 82, of Minden, passed away on Sunday, April 28, 1996 following a lengthy illness. Childs was a retired superintendent for Alpha Construction Co.

Funeral services will be held at Rose-Neath Funeral Home's Minden Chapel under the direction of Rev. Malcolm Self at 10:30 a.m. on May 1, 1996. Interment will follow at Hillcrest Cemetery in Haughton.

Childs was preceded in death by his parents: Pharis Franklin Childs and Mamie Love Bonnell; his first wife, O'Leater Young Childs; daughter Gwendolyn Gail Graham; grandson, Ronny Thurston Makowsky.

B. W. Brothers Rites Monday

Services for M. Sgt. Buford Weldon Brothers, 40, a native of Seymour, who died unexpectedly Monday in an Air Force base hospital in the Philippines, was held at 2 p.m. Monday in the Church of Christ here.

Leslie Mickey, Colorado City Church of Christ minister, officiated. Burial was in Riverview Cemetery with military graveside rites. Arrangements were under the direction of Elliston-Archer Funeral Home.

Brothers was born March 27, 1929, in Seymour. He was a veteran of 19 years in the services.

Survivors include his wife; a son, Eugene, and a daughter, Deborah, both of the home; two brothers, J. W. of Wichita Falls and Orval of Seymour; two sisters, Delta Mae Brothers and Pauline Brothers, both of Seymour; and his mother, Mrs. J. B. Brothers of Seymour.

B.C. Phenix Sr.

HENDERSON - Services for Bruce C. Phenix Sr., 92, Henderson, are set for 3 p.m. Saturday at the chapel of the First Baptist Church in Henderson with Dr. Hugh L. Smith officiating.

Burial will be in Lakewood Memorial Park in Henderson.

Mr. Phenix died Friday morning at a nursing home in Henderson after a lengthy illness.

He was born Oct. 31, 1888, in Alvin, and lived eight years in Henderson. He was a display manager at a department store. He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Henderson, where he was a deacon.

He attended Baylor University.

Survivors include his wife, Mrs. June Phenix of Henderson; two sons, Bruce C. Phenix Jr. of Beaumont and James N. Phenix of Henderson; a brother, Vance Phenix of Houston; seven grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be L.O. Allen, Joe Dyson, Charles Hutto, Ken Phenix, Bob Phenix, Jim Phenix, Rusty Phenix, Rodney Phenix and Terry Mayo.

Honorary pallbearers will be Dr. Noah Batchelor Sunday School Class.

Mr. Prescott died Monday at Medical Center Hospital. He was born April 30, 1920, in Madisonville. He married Mary McElroy.

Mr. Prescott had lived in Odessa for 38 years. He was a truck driver for Dale Meyer Trucking Co. He was a U.S. Army World War II veteran. He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars.

Survivors include two sons, Billy Prescott of Odessa and Randy Prescott of Lufkin; and a grandchild.

Visitation will be held from 9:00 am Tuesday until time of service with a Rosary at 11:00 am.

A native of Lafayette and resident of Delcambre, Baily passed away at 10:41 am on Thursday, December 6, 2018 at Ochsner Hospital in New Orleans.

Baily was a graduate of Delcambre High School in 2016 and was currently attending ULL, majoring in Child and Family Services.

She will be missed dearly by her friends and family.

She is survived by her son, Peyton Jude Bourque of Delcambre; her mother, Mindy Migues Braquet of Delcambre; one sister, Julianna Migues of Delcambre; two brothers, Evan Touchet of Abbeville and Brayden Braquet of Delcambre; maternal grandparents, Johnny and Shelley Thibodeaux Migues of Delcambre; paternal grandparents, Dalton and Gail Broussard Touchet of New Iberia; her step mother, Kaima Touchet Schaefer of Abbeville and her boyfriend, Tyler Bourque of New Iberia.

She was preceded in death by her father, Brent Jude Touchet.

Pallbearers will be Kyle Migues, Tana Braquet, Zack Renard, Carl LeBlanc, Sean Steinman and Tyler Bourque. Brayden Braquet and Evan Touchet will serve as honorary pallbearers.

BALDWIN, Anne - Age 55, of Flagstaff, died Wednesday, June 22, 2001. She was born August 31, 1955, in Philadelphia to Robert S. and Jane Helen Mathias Baldwin. Punkin was a Graduate of Peabody Demonstration School (USN) in 1973. Anne is survived by her daughter, Heather Wodrich of Tucson, AZ; son, Justin (Jodie) Wodrich of San Jose, CA; father, Robert S. Baldwin of Nashville, TN; brothers, David M. Baldwin of Nashville, TN and Dr. Dick Baldwin of Douglasville, GA; and one grandchild. She is preceded in death by her mother, Jane M. Baldwin, and two nephews. Her "Celebration of Life" was held in Flagstaff, AZ on Tuesday, June 28, 2011. There was many family and friends in attendance that spoke of the many happy times that they shared. Anne was an avid hiker, backpacker, bicyclist, fly-fisher, and snow-skier. She was a longtime resident of Flagstaff, having moved there in 1986. She was a special education teacher at DeMiguel Elementary School for 22 years. A funeral service for Barbara Ann "Bunny" Cloud, 82, of Marshall, Texas will be held at 2:00 p.m., Friday, December 29, 2023, in the Chapel of Downs Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Algoma North Cemetery. A visitation for family and friends will be held from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., Thursday, December 28, 2023, at the funeral home.

Barbara was born on April 13, 1941, in Winnsboro, Texas to Wayne Holley and Ravenell Jones Holley and passed away on December 22, 2023, in Longview, Texas.

She was one of three ladies that was inducted into the Longview Police Department in 1974-1975. She was a Baptist. She enjoyed coin collecting and watching old movies. Most of all she loved spending time with family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Wayne and Ravenell Holley and her husband, George Cloud.

She is survived by her children, Lee Howlett, Noel Howlett and wife, Linda and Casey Howlett; sister, Wanda Hicks and husband, Bill, Terry Holley and Rick Holley and wife, Rebecca; grandchildren, Ashlie Howlett and Taylor Howlett and great grandchildren, Maddox Scoggin, Noelan Sargent, Zerek Howlett and Shiloh Howlett along with numerous nieces, nephews and other family and friends.

In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made in her honor to the American Heart Association.

Barbara Ann Doggett, 62, of Danville, passed away peacefully on Thursday, September 3, 2015 at 4:30 a.m. at Presence Covenant Hospital in Urbana.

Barbara was born on May 6, 1953 in Cairo, Illinois to Robert and Hazel Stroud. Barbara married Richard Doggett on August 6, 1970, and he was taken from her all too quickly in July of 1983 in an automobile accident. Barbara was also preceded in death by her parents.

Barbara went on to raise her five young children, Larry Doggett, Kimberly Hughes, Tammy Billot, Shawn Doggett and Melissa Richards (Eric), all of whom survive. She also leaves behind her thirteen grandchildren; two great-grandchildren and a sister, Shirley (Bob) Davis.

She attended Catlin schools, later going into the medical field where she was a Medical Records Clerk for several years.

Barbara Ann Klinger was born September 29, 1939 in Wickett, Texas to Clyde "Cactus" Redmond Calvert and Ruby Othell (Carwile) Calvert and passed away Friday, May 22, 2009 at St. Mary's Regional Medical Center in Enid, Oklahoma.

Barbara attended school in Fort Worth, Texas and graduated from high school in McCamey, Texas. She obtained her LVN accreditation in Texas. She married Donald Paul Klinger on December 14, 1957 in San Angelo, Texas. They were blessed with three boys. Barbara worked as an LVN for 14 years and then worked as the Business Office Manager for Angelo Clinic Association for 25 years. She moved to Nevada where she worked for Spectrasonics as a warehouse manager for 12 years.

She is survived by her three sons, Dr. Don Klinger and wife Linda of Fairview, Oklahoma, Kenny Klinger and wife Amy of Round Rock, Texas and David Klinger of Las Vegas, Nevada; and four grandchildren, Jeremy Klinger and Kayla Klinger, Mason Klinger and Garrett Klinger.

Barbara was preceded in death by her parents, husband; two sisters, Peggy and Pearl; and one brother, William "Bill" Calvert.

Barbara Jeanette Brisbon, 77, of Denton passed away on Tuesday June 20, 2017 in Corinth, Texas surrounded by family. She was born October 4, 1939 in Denton, Texas to John H. Hilliard and Selma L. (Sprayberry) Johnson. Barbara was married to the late Johnny B. Brisbon, who preceded her in death in 2008.

Barbara worked at Victor Technologies for several years as well as Josten's in Denton, TX. She retired as a Teacher/Nurse Aide from Argyle Independent School District. She enjoyed attending Glory of Zion Church in Corinth, TX. Barbara was a kind and loyal friend; with a loving and generous heart she was always giving to others. One of her greatest joys was spoiling her grandchildren. Her memories will always be cherished by her loving family.

Barbara is survived by daughter, Pam Splawn and husband Marty of Northlake, step-daughter, Irene Tyler of Conroe, son Michael E. Hilliard of Sherman, half brother, David Hilliard and wife Pam of Fort Worth, seven grandchildren and sixteen great grandchildren.

She is also preceded in death by her parents, John Hilliard and Selma Johnson and brother, Johnney Hilliard.

She was a member of VFW 1330 Auxiliary, VFW 204 Auxiliary, American Legion Auxiliary, Eagles Lodge and Moose Lodge, all of Coshocton.

In addition to her mother, Mrs. Poorman is survived by a son, Roger A. Poorman of Aurora, Colo.; a daughter, Kerry W. Barbara, 72, passed away June 25, 2014 in Bossier City, LA. She was born November 18, 1941, Lake Charles, LA. She was married 42 years to the love of her life, Gerald Edward Gibbs.

Barbara was the matriarch and solid rock of her family. She was at her best whipping up one of her mother's famous South Louisiana recipes, making enough to feed a small army. Spending time with family was one of her favorite past times. She was affectionately known as Momo not only to her grandchildren, but to many others who respected her.

Barbara and her husband Gerald owned Pap-Paw's Fried Chicken. She worked as a property manager for Landmark Realty for many years. She enjoyed her bowling league and once bowled a perfect game. Her greatest accomplishment was being a mother and "Momo" to many.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Gerald Edward Gibbs, her two sisters, Mae Dell Coleman and husband Cole, Brenda Gail McBride, son-in-law, Tracy Edward Hendrix and her parents, Thomas Joseph McBride and Leora LeBleu McBride.

She is survived by her three daughters, Gail Lynn Russell and husband Tom, Ginger G. Bigby and husband Walter, and Sandy D. Gibbs and Kevin Cox; her grandchildren, Jennifer Cyrus Spivey and husband Anthony, Whitney Hendrix Peters and husband Nolan, Jeffrey Bryan Gibbs, Zachary Edward Hendrix and wife Kylie, Jarrett Brent Gibbs and wife Natsumi, Tabitha Nicole Black, Hayden Oliver Bigby, Tommy Russell and wife Jill, and Travis Russell and wife Gina; brothers, Tommy McBride and wife Pat, Mike McBride and wife Katie, and brother-in-law, Joseph Gibbs and wife Linda. She also had 15 great grandchildren and a host of family and friends.

Her quick wit and great sense of humor will be missed by all.

Survivors include her husband of 41 years, Richard Segelken of Skidmore; two sons, Louis Dickinson of Skidmore and Stephen Dickinson of Victoria; two stepsons, Richard Segelken Jr. of Georgia and William Segelken of Galveston; a brother, Kenneth Hicks of New Braunfels; six grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

Haughton - Bart Chrandle Newton was born September 22, 1956 at Mountain Home AFB, Idaho. Bart graduated from Northville High School, Michigan, in 1974.

At an early age, he discovered that he had an affinity for taking things apart and putting them back together again. Bart soon became a life-long Master Mechanic while forging a family of his own.

During his late career, Bart developed lung cancer and courageously fought it for a year. Due to the efforts of Dr. Jafri, other doctors, Sandy Craigo and other nurses at Feist Wieller Cancer Center, Bart was successful in his treatment. Unfortunately and unexpectedly, Bart died on April 24, 2012 to a suspected blood clot.

He is survived by two children: daughter Stephenie Newton (Marze), her husband Daniel Marze, and their boys Hagen adn Garrison of Bossier City; as well as son Kyle Newton of Bossier City; parents Duane and Dewyene Newton of Haughton; sister Sheri Newton (Riley) and husband Ray Riley of Haughton; brothers Erik of Mooringsport, Drake of Bossier City, Micah and wife Suranut of Haughton; and several nieces, nephews, and grand-nephews.

Bart had a passion for fishing and endeavored to become a fishing guide in Arkansas or Alaska. He enjoyed cooking, was always willing to help family and friends, and loved playing with children. Bark Newton was well loved and will always be missed.

87 Years Old

Ora "Bart" Eaton, 87, of Jackson passed away Sunday, January 24, 2016 at Southeast Hospital.

He was born March 15, 1928, in Cutler, IL, son of Barton and Lue King Eaton. He and Ruth Vaughn Eaton were married December 7, 1952.

Bart was a member of Immaculate Conception Church and the Knights of Columbus in Jackson. He served in the United States Army from 1950 to 1952 during the Korean Conflict. Bart was a member of American Legion Post 158 in Jackson. He retired in 1982 from Western Electric in Cicero, IL after 20+ years of employment. Upon retirement, Bart was active in square dancing with his wife, Ruth and enjoyed making wine. He was a member of NCHA.

Loving survivors include his wife of 64 years, Ruth; 4 children, Judy (Ron Dybell) Mahaffey of Jackson, Robert (Kim) Eaton of Selden, New York, Michael (Melissa) Eaton of Portland, OR and Helana Eaton of Jackson; sister, Billie Hallock of Iuka, Illinois; six grandchildren, one step-grandchild and one great step-grandchild.

He was preceded in death by his parents, an infant son, Patrick Allen Eaton, and a brother, Jim Eaton.

Visitation will be 4-8 pm Thursday, Jan 28, 2016 at McCombs Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Jackson with Parish Prayers at 7 pm. The funeral service will be 10 am Friday, Jan 29, 2016 at Immaculate Conception Church in Jackson with Father John Harth officiating.

Interment will follow in Cutler Community Cemetery in Cutler, Illinois.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to Immaculate Conception Church.

Baxter Rites to be Monday

Services for Fred M. Baxter, 83, of 212 W. Highland, retired rural letter carrier, will be at 2 p.m. Monday in Roesch Brothers Funeral Chapel.

Rev. Willard T. Reece, pastor of the First Christian Church, will officiate, assisted by Rev. Byron Lamun, associate pastor. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery.

Mr. Baxter died at 11:20 p.m. Thursday in a local hospital.

He was born March 1, 1880 at Oologah, Okla., and had lived in Oklahoma practically all of his life.

He served 33 years and eight months as a rural letter carrier in the Holdenville area. He retired in 1942 and moved to Shawnee in October, 1942.

After moving to Shawnee he was employed as custodian of the First Presbyterian Church and later as part-time custodian in the First Baptist Church.

Mr. Baxter was a member of the First Christian Church and was a former member of the Odd Fellows Lodge.

Survivors are his wife, Mrs. Thelma Baxter, of the home; three sisters, Mrs. Minnie Priddy, Nocona, Tex.; Mrs. Amos Williams, Wewoka, and Mrs. Price Azlin, Seminole.

Bearers will be T. C. Smith, Adrian Gregg, K. R. Wilson, Glenn Friday, Chester McDonald, and W. F. Nicholson.

Jackie Wayne Bean, 70, of Madill, Oklahoma, passed away Thursday, January 20, 2011, at the hospital in Madill. He was born on April 12, 1940 to the late Charles Vernon Bean and Ina Jewell Snider Bean in McMillan, Oklahoma. Jackie was raised and lived his entire life in the McMillan and Madill area. He graduated from Madill High School in 1958 and later attended Murray State College. Jackie joined the United States Army and served in Germany before returning back to Madill, where he owned and operated Jackie's Furniture store. He currently owned and operated Bean Dozer Repair in Madill. Jackie enjoyed riding motorcycles, working, loved going to Sturgis and collecting antique cars and tractors. Jackie was always active, on the move, had a positive attitude, good sense of humor and a fun loving spirit. Funeral services were held Wednesday, May 12 at 2 p.m. in the St. Joseph Catholic Church for Beauregard Clement. Burial followed in the St. Joseph Cemetery under the direction of Gossen Funeral Home.

Mr. Clement died Tuesday, May 11 at 5:20 a.m. in the Rayne Branch Hospital at the age of 81.

EDWIN J. BECK died Sunday, November 16, 2008 in Denton at the age of 78. He is preceded in death by parents, Frank and Lillian Beck and son, Michael Beck. He is survived by his wife, Patsy Fletcher Beck of Denton and son Patrick and wife Tracy Beck of Denton.

He was a member of the Catholic Church; a 1948 graduated of St. Thomas High School in Houston and served in the U.S. Army in the Korean Conflict. He worked with the Boy Scouts of America with sons attaining rank of Eagle Scout. He retired from the U.S. Postal Service as a letter carrier with 30 years of service.

Graveside service will be Tuesday, November 18, 2008 at 2:00 p.m. at Roselawn Memorial Park in Denton.
