Nancy Celina Thomas
October 21, 1931 - August 28, 2025
On August 28, 2025 Nancy C. Thomas of The Brixton in Horseshoe Bay, Texas left her earthly body to enter a much better place that our Lord had prepared for her. Born at home on October 21, 1931 in Rayne, Louisiana she was an older twin to her brother and eventually a sister. She worked for the phone company in Louisiana and was transferred to California in her early 20's. There she met and married Jerry Thomas, moving to Bellaire, Texas where they raised their 3 sons. After ending their marriage, she managed a series of bars for a family friend for a few years and then worked at the Shamrock Hilton. Once the Shamrock closed down she worked for Upjohn Chemical until she moved to Jewett, Texas. There she enjoyed fishing, the wildlife and attending chili cookoffs, never missing the World Championship in Terlingua, Texas. From there she moved to Bellville, Texas in 1995 where she became very active in the Catholic Church and worked at the court house. In 2005, she moved to Sugar Land, Texas to be closer to her son Michael and his family. When they moved to Lake LBJ in 2018 she also moved and took over caring for their labradoodle, Bailey who became her constant companion. At age 90, she moved to the Brixton where she was very happy, active and loved by all of the staff. She is survived by Kenny Thomas and his wife Jackie of Orange Beach, Alabama, Michael Thomas and his wife Karen of Sunrise Beach, Texas and Mark Thomas and his wife Marianne of Martin, Georgia, as well as many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
The family would like to extend their sincere thanks to the staff at The Brixton along with Altus Hospice who also cared for her at the end. There will be a funeral mass on Tuesday, September 9, at St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church in Horseshoe Bay at 11 am with a luncheon to follow.
