      Sue Lynn Coon
      of Batesville, AR
      May 22, 1938 - August 21, 2024

Sue Lynn (Thompson) Coon passed away the morning of August 21st, 2024, peacefully sitting on her porch. She was born in Crossett, Arkansas to Milburn and Mattie Mae (Bayes) Thompson on May 22nd, 1938.

Sue received a Master's in Art from the University of Arkansas. She loved being an artist - painting and teaching art all her life. Sue taught in the Little Rock School District for 22 years. She was also a musician, singing and playing the piano. She enjoyed riding horses and made several trips out west.

Sue enjoyed living in Mountain View participating in the Craftsman and Arts Studio Tour, singing with the Traditional Shapenote Singers featured at the Ozark Folk Center for 15 years. She never quit teaching art and painted up until the day of her passing. Best of all, she was a dedicated wife and mother. She had a loving heart to all that knew her.

Sue and her husband, Dr. Ken Coon Sr. are survived by her two children, Dr. Catherine Lynn Coon of Little Rock, AR and Kenneth Lloyd Coon Jr. of Mountain View, AR. Sue has two grandchildren, Clint Heston Coon and wife, Claire of Greenbrier, AR and Katie Rose Coon of Conway, AR. She has one sister, Sara Neil Thompson Gross of Calhoun, LA.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Milburn and Mattie Mae Thompson; her sisters, Beth and Jeanie and her dear husband, Ken Coon Sr.

A Funeral Service will be held Saturday, August 24th at 11am at the School Avenue Church of Christ in Mountain View, Arkansas.

Sue will then be honored in a Funeral Service Sunday, August 25th at 2pm at Indian Village Church in Calhoun, Louisiana. Interment will follow at Indian Village Cemetery in Calhoun, Louisiana.

The pallbearers will be Ken Coon Jr, Heston Coon, Dusty Smalling, Brad Smalling, Benjamin Gross and Kevin Krohne.
