      HITCHCOCK - Bob McLaren, Jr., 70, of Hitchcock, Texas passed away Monday, July 31, 2006, at his residence in Hitchcock, Texas.

      Bob was born August 17, 1935, in Galveston, the son of Robert Edward McLaren, Sr. and Velma Nelson McLaren.

      He was a resident of Hitchcock for the past 16 years and formerly a longtime resident of La Marque. Bob was a retired pipe fitter at Monsanto/Sterling Chemical Company in Texas City, he also served as a volunteer fireman for thirty years at Monsanto. He was a member of Pipe fitter's Local Union 211. Bob was very active in the SFOA, he served as a commissioner and life member. He enjoyed being a referee for the local high school football games, he also enjoyed umpiring and was member of the ASA softball association. Bob was an avid hunter and fisherman. Bob was a member of Abundant Life Christian Center in La Marque. He was preceded in death by his parents and sister Patsy Bilotta.

      Bob is survived by his wife Bobbie McLaren of Hitchcock; two daughters and sons-in-law Gayle Mardis Cantrell and Lewis of Galveston and Lisa Curtis and Rob of Galveston; four sons and daughters-in-law Robert Edward McLaren,III and Sissy of La Marque, Michael McLaren and Shannon of Santa Fe, Keith McLaren of La Marque and daughter-in-law Gwen McLaren of La Marque, Lynn McLaren and Michelle of Friendswood; three step-children Becky Frye of Santa Fe, Ed Sanford and wife Vicki of Missouri City, Texas, Kevin Sanford and wife Heather of Galway, Ireland; twelve grandchildren Jamie and husband Cody, Robert IV (Bo), Bryce, Arin, Clay, Bobby, Justin, Sr., Bryan, Daryl, Jr., Mitchell, Nikki and Matt, ten step-grandchildren Zachary, Amanda, Melissa, Glenn, Joshua, Sara, Emily, Hannah, Abby and Mathew and two great grandchildren Logan and Justin, Jr. and one step-grandchild Eric, Jr.; brother-in-law and sisters-in-law Ken Coon and wife Sue Lynn of Mountain View, Arkansas, Pat Thompson of Ellicott City, MD., Tommee Caldwell and husband Larry of Arcadia, Lousiana, Susan Bailey and husband Greg of Baton Rouge, Lousiana; numerous nieces, nephews and many friends.

      Visitation will be Wednesday, August 2, 2006, between 6 p.m. and 8 p.m. at the funeral home. Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Thursday, August 3, 2006, in the Chapel of the James Crowder Funeral Home in La Marque, with Pastor Kevin Sanford, officiating. Interment will follow at Galveston Memorial Park Cemetery in Hitchcock, Texas.

      Pallbearer will be Bob's six children. Honorary Pallbearers will be his grandsons, Larry Caldwell, James "Chick" Plowman and Bill Reese.
