    • Obituary:

      OROVILLE - A funeral for Frank L. Bumgardner, 74, of Oroville will be at 2 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 9, at the Palermo Baptist Church. A private burial will follow.

      Bumgardner died on Sunday, Dec. 5, 1999, at a local hospital.

      He was born on Aug. 17, 1925, in Bristow, Okla.

      Bumgardner served in the 101st Airborne and fought in the Battle of the Bulge and other battles.

      He joined the Carpenter's Union in 1945 and was a life long member. He worked as general superintendent for Guy F. Atkison Co. for 46 years. He worked on many heavy construction projects throughout the United States and Canada, including Oroville Dam, Bullards Bar and Glen Canyon Dam.

      Bumgardner married Rose Mary Patten on May 2, 1946.

      Survivors include his wife of 53 years; a daughter, Sandra Tucker of Hercules; a son, Bobby L. Bumgardner of Oroville; four sisters, Janet McFarland and Janice Brown of Oregon, Darlene Fritz of Washington, and Virginia Winkleman of Canada; five grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

      Visitation is noon to 8 p.m. today at Scheer Memorial Chapel.

      Memorial contributions may be made to the American Parkinsons Disease Association, 10850 Wilshire Blvd., Los Angeles, 90024.
