Lena was Christian by faith and a member of the Bayou Vista Baptist Church. Lena started her working career as a teller at Morgan City Bank and then became an insurance agent, and worked for Frank's Agency, Inc., and Paul's Insurance Agency. Lena enjoyed camping with her husband, Newt, and they were both members of the Bayou Allegro Camping Club.

Lena was a lady of many talents and accomplishments, but nothing compared to the love she had for her family and the time she spent with the ones she loved.

Lena is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, Bill R. and Lorraine W. Martin of Bayou Vista; two daughters, Barbara and her husband Phil Granier of Newport News, Va., and Jennie and her husband Wayne Aucoin of Bayou Vista; three sisters, Bobbie G. Grainger, Alfreda G. Thibodaux, and Alene G. Hesterly, all of Breaux Bridge; two brothers, Francis "Boy" Gallagher and Alfred Gallagher, both of Breaux Bridge; four grandchildren, Melissa Jones, Ronnie Martin, Kristy Martin, and Ashleigh Minter, four step-grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Newton Martin; her parents, Francis and Laura Bergeron Gallagher; and one brother, Robert Jimmy Gallagher.
