  Obituary: D. P. "Dub" Sargent Jr. D.P. (Dub) Sargent Jr. age 94 of Denison, Texas went to be with the Lord on Friday June 16, 2023. He was born in Hamilton, Texas on June 05, 1929, to D.P. and Stella Sargent. Dub was the youngest of six children. After graduating Jonesboro High School in 1946 Dub joined the US Air Force and was stationed in Japan during the Korean War. After his completion of service with the US Air Force, Dub returned to Hamilton, Texas. Shortly after his return he met Patsy Ross of College Station, Texas to whom he has been married for 69 years. Dub and Patsy moved to Arlington, Texas where Dub worked for General Motors. While living in Arlington their first child Pamela was born. From Arlington the couple relocated to Wichita Falls, Texas where Dub began his career in the restaurant business with Underwoods Barbeque. Eventually Dub and Pat brought Underwoods BBQ to Sherman and Denison Texas where they owned and operated two restaurants for 23 years. Once settled in Sherman, Texas Dub and Patsy welcomed a son Jeffrey Ross Sargent. Retiring from the restaurant business after 23 years Dub continued to enjoy the Cowboy life. Dub is survived by his wife Patsy Sargent and their two children, Pamela Sargent Dodson and husband John, Jeff and wife Kim Sargent; three grandchildren Matt Dodson and wife Maggie, Mallory Marcoux and husband Clint and Harley Sargent; five great grandchildren Kirksey Marcoux, Blythe Dodson, Hattie Marcoux, Sam Dodson and Virginia Marcoux. Dub is predeceased by his parents D.P. and Stella Sargent, and siblings Elvy, Clydene, James, Earl, and Rhett; and one great grandson Hayes Dodson. The Family would like to express appreciation to the staff of Grayson Place in Denison, Texas along with Quantum Hospice for their love, support, and care. In lieu of flowers you may send a donation to your charity of choice. A viewing will be held at Waldo Funeral home in Sherman, Texas on Wednesday, June 21 from 6 to 8 pm followed by a Chapel Service on Thursday, June 22 at 10:00 am at Waldo Funeral Home.
