- Obituary:
Orville Glynn Randle
Orville Glynn Randle passed away at the age of 86 in Goliad Texas. Although being cared for in a nursing facility he knew many of the staff for more than 25 years since they had known him and his wife as both co-workers and friends. Born to Cecil Glynn Randle and Lillian Irene Randle in Lake Charles, Louisiana, Glynn retired from Reynolds Metals Corporation after 42 years of employment.
Glynn and his younger sister, Lillian Irene Randle, later Smith, 85, of Corpus Christi who survives him began their school years in Lake Charles. At the end of the second World War the family transferred with Halliburton Company to Alice, Texas and later to Luling, Texas. In 1952 shortly after the birth of Robert M. Randle, who survives him as well, the family moved to Refugio, Texas. Glynn and Irene continued their schooling and graduated together in 1957. That year they both attended Southwest Texas State Teachers College in San Marcos. Later in 1958 Glynn began work at the Reynolds Metals plant in Gregory, Texas.
In 1960 on his birthday, Glynn and "Buster Wallace" joined the US Army under the "buddy system" where they would train and deploy together. Glynn and Buster took basic training at Fort Hood then advanced training at Fort Sill Oklahoma before deployment to Germany. Glynn said the sickest he ever was, was on that eight-day crossing on a troop ship to Europe. After three years of Army life they returned to the states and Glynn returned to Reynolds Metals in Gregory. Glynn's time at Reynolds was marked by his steady advancement to Senior Metal Fabricator and eventually as superintendent of all contractors working in the Sherwin plant. Glynn retired upon the sale of Reynolds to Alcoa in 2000 completing 42 years of employment.
In 1967 Glynn was united in marriage to Mary Murphy (later Mary Lanham) who also survives him. In January of 1968 they welcomed Douglas Glynn Randle of Houston who survives Glynn as well. In 1996 Glynn married Virginia L. Jenkins who preceded him in passing. During his life Glynn enjoyed hunting, fishing, and collecting various items. He was a loyal and dependable man who cared for Virginia as she struggled with Alzheimer's disease. He was by her side every day, for years.
Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Moore Funeral Home in Refugio, Texas.
