Drake Richard Broussard was born on June 24, 1998 in Lafayette and he was a lifelong resident of Abbeville. Drake's job at Glenn Lege Construction as a heavy equipment operator was something he truly enjoyed the last few month of his life. His love for operating machines started on zero turn mowing machine with his great-grandfather, CJ Stelly, at 3 years old. As Drake grew bigger, so did the machines, but there was nothing like the time he spent with his younger brother, Jeren. It's a guy thing; it's a bond they share that can never be broken.
One of Drake's most rewarding places to be was standing in the kitchen at the stove, where he lacked no skills. It was something he was always ready to do. Many might describe him as "the life of the party"; he loved to make people laugh. He had one of the most contagious smiles and his own laugh was one you would want to hear on repeat.
Then, there are his nieces and nephews, the little people he adored the most. They describe him as "the funniest person in the world." He loved those babies with his whole heart, and his memory will never be forgotten for all six of them.
Knowing Drake was knowing how much he loved music, but not as much as he loved to sing louder than the music played. He expressed his deepest thoughts through a song. Drake valued a good friend, he thrived to make someone else's life easier despite his own internal struggles. To some, he gave the best advice; but sometimes failed to take his own. Our lives are forever changed by Drake's sudden passing and the memories we have of him are what we will hold close to our hearts, something that can never be taken from us.
Drake is survived by his mother, Alisha Trahan (Scott Griffin), and his father, Tracy Broussard; his siblings, Claire G Prejean (Coy) of Kaplan and Jeren Broussard (Makayla) of Erath; his grandparents, Rick and Gleeda Coleman and Nadine Broussard; his nieces and nephews, Jaxen Roy, Vera Manuel, Jon Broussard, Jolie Broussard, Elle Broussard, and Leo Prejean; as well as his godparent, Lance Broussard.
He was preceded in death by his nanny, Rene' Trahan; his maternal grandfather, Wilbert Trahan; and his paternal grandfather, Richard Broussard.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Cypress Funeral Home & Crematory, 206 W. Lafayette St., Maurice, LA 70555.
