"Motherhood ... all love begins and ends there."
Our dear sweet mother, who was the heart and soul of our family, sadly passed away at the tender age of 94. With a soft voice and gentle touch, our mom was a never-ending source of kind words and deeds. Nearly every conversation with her included a warm laugh or a sweet giggle. Through the decades, she instinctively knew when help was needed and was always the first to arrive and the last to leave, especially for her children and grandchildren. She was always more interested in the happiness of others with little concern for herself. She was the last of a bygone generation known for style and grace.
She was a parishioner of St. Pius X Catholic Church since 1956. Each morning was devoted to prayer for her children, for the sick, and for the needy. She attended noon Mass every day. The family would especially like to thank her "partners in prayer" who would meet after the noon Mass every Tuesday to recite the Patriotic Rosary. This dedicated routine shaped her into the beautiful lady for whom she was known.
Her hobbies and talents were many, but nothing gave her more joy than spending time with her family - either cooking one of her legendary meals or hosting family vacations at a beach front condo. Her favorite activities included sightseeing old homes from yesteryear and waiting for the azalea blooms at springtime. She especially enjoyed sewing custom apparel for her family.
She attended Mt. Carmel where she played on the basketball team. She graduated from The College of the Sacred Heart in Grand Coteau. She was employed as an executive secretary for GMAC, then for PHI Helicopters, finally retiring from the Land Dept. @ Conoco Oil Company.
She is the widow of Jerome Anthony Thibeaux of Jeanerette, LA.
Born in Lafayette, LA as the youngest child of J. Frank Jeanmard and Lucille Perres Jeanmard, her late siblings are: Marie Louise Jeanmard, Monsignor Jules A. Jeanmard, Lucille Jeanmard Traub, and Blanche Jeanmard Bettis. She has 5 children (and daughter-in-law): Joe (Gilda), Martin, Bill, Mina, and Chris; 3 grandchildren (and grandson-in-law, granddaughter-in-law): Lauren (David), Joshua (Kim), and Ciara; 5 great-grandchildren: Ava, Jacob, Nolan, Eloi, and Julian.
She was the last surviving child of the siblings of the 1st Bishop of Lafayette, His Excellency Jules B. Jeanmard (Uncle Julot), serving the Diocese of Lafayette from 1918-1956.
She passed away at the Calcutta House under the tender care of the entire staff. Her family will be eternally grateful.
Honorary pallbearers are: Dr. Milton Jolivette MD and Wendell Bares Esq.
Our mother taught us every good thing - except how to live without her.
Flowers are most welcomed; however, donations may be made in her name to: Calcutta House c/o Hospice of Acadiana.
