  Obituary: SPRINGHILL (Porterville), LA - Services for Gertrude Frances Cochran, 93, will be held at 4 p.m., Saturday, July 15, 1989 at the Central Baptist Church. Dr. Lynn Jones, pastor, will officiate, assisted by Dr. N.O. Pugh of Shreveport. Burial will be in Springhill Cemetery under the direction of Bailey Mortuary in Springhill. Mrs. Cochran, a native and lifelong resident of this area, passed away Friday, July 14, 1989 in Springhill after a short illness. She was the daughter of the late Lazarus L. and Frances Viola Campbell Houston, a pioneer family of Webster Parish. She was the youngest and last survivor of sixteen children. Mrs. Cochran was a homemaker and a member of Central Baptist Church where she was a Sunday School teacher and in the choir. She was preceded in death by her husband, Porter Cochran of September 22, 1984. She is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Melbourne and Nettie Cochran; two daughters and sons-in-law, Maggie and John Wallace, Gertieann and Billy Twitty; seven grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. Pallbearers will be Curtis Nichols, Joe Curtis, Robert Bryan, Jerry Nash, Kenneth Treece and Ferrell Sivils. (Published in The Shreveport Times on July 15, 1989)
