    TO PHILIPPINES

    Shown above is Corporal Charles Houston, son of Hattie Houston of Sarepta, and his wife. Corporal Houston recently has been transferred to the Philippine Islands for duty with the U.S. army air corps. He enlisted in 1939 at Barksdale Field and was later sent to Savannah, Ga., where he served until he was sent to the Philippines.

    • Obituary:

      Charles C. Houston Sr.

      Charles C. Houston Sr., 70, of 7004 Westbury, died Thursday.

      Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Memory Gardens Cemetery with Mike Gardner, minister of Southwest Church of Christ, officiating. Burial will be by Schooler-Gordon Bell Avenue Chapel.

      Mr. Houston, born at Sarepta, La., had lived in Amarillo for 10 years. He was city office manager for San Angelo, retiring after 15 years.

      Survivors include his wife, Rosa Mae; two sons, Charles C. Jr. and Dr. James, both of Amarillo; and six grandchildren.

      Memorials may be to High Plains Children's Home.
