Michael Dean Allen
On Wednesday, September 13, 2023 the world lost a remarkable soul. Michael Dean Allen graced this earth for 73 years before passing away from natural causes. Born on December 4, 1949 in Bayou Sorrel, Louisiana, Michael was a devoted son to the late David Edward Allen, Sr. and the late Electa Guillot Allen. Michael, from a young age, hunted and fished all over the Atchafalaya Basin. His knowledge of the Basin was impeccable and beyond compare. He was well known for, and loved commercial fishing, training hunting dogs, and everything in between. He was always happy when he was either in the woods or on the water. He admittedly didn't know his way around the city, even reading a street sign, but out in the Basin he could tell you which way to go based on just a cypress tree or if the water was high or low. In fact, the only thing that made him happier was sharing his love for the Basin with his family and friends. The Basin was his home where he thoroughly enjoyed his last years of life. If you were lucky enough to know Michael, then you knew he was an honest man, a man of his word, a trusted friend, and always had a good story to tell. If you were a stranger meeting and talking to him for the first time, you weren't going to leave a stranger?.if you were able to leave at all. Michael was a loving brother who is survived by his siblings; David 'Black' Allen, Jr., Elaine Allen, Tony Allen, Linda Allen, Jocelyn 'Jackie' Allen. Michael was a caring, supportive, and loving father, grandfather, and great-grandfather who took great pride in watching his family grow and thrive. Michael's legacy lives on through his children, Robert Corley (Stacey), Daria Verret (Dwayne), Jason Allen (Calli), Brianne Braley (Sean); grandchildren, Autrey Corley (Maria), Austin Scioneaux (Allie), Ashley Miller (Joshua), Nathan Allen (Kasie), Sarah Verret, Addison Allen, Jacob 'Pookie' Allen, Kollene Brown (Dylan), Karson Braley (Christina), Conner Allen, Kullin Braley, Clare Corley, Karmyn Braley, Mason Verret, Nicholas Corley, Michael Corley, Sophia Corley; great-grandchildren, Harper Allen, Chandler Gregg, Gabriella Verret, Aidyn Allen, Isabella Corley, Alex Allen, Layla Hallock, Lucia Corley, Audrey-Kate Scioneaux, Emiliana Miller, Valeria Corley, Lylith Brown, Morgan LeBlanc, Alyza Brown, Damon Braley, Colt Michael Allen. Michael's journey is now joined with those who have passed before him, including his parents, David Edward Allen, Sr. and Electa Guillot Allen; siblings, Walter Allen, Charles 'Butch' Allen, James 'JD' Allen, Judith Allen, Thomas 'Tubby' Allen; grandchild, John Corley. Michael's sudden departure has left a void that can't be filled. He will be deeply missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing him. May his spirit live on forever in the hearts of his loved ones. Those who knew Michael know he wasn't one for big gatherings, especially if they were for him. So, in keeping with his wishes, there will be no funeral services.
