Rev. Ray Hamlin
LUBBOCK - Services for the Rev. Ray Hamlin, 62, of Lubbock will be 1:30 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 10, 2013, in Slaton's First Baptist Church with the Rev. Joey Hamlin of Post officiating. Burial will follow in Peaceful Gardens Memorial Park Cemetery under the guidance of Englunds Funeral Service of Slaton. Ray was born March 6, 1950, in Big Spring, Texas. He passed from this life Jan. 5, 2013. His family moved to Lubbock from Florida. He was a 1968 graduate of Coronado High School and received his BA from Hugh Harris Bible College in 1994. Ray had been in the ministry for 35 years. He was an evangelist for 23 years before becoming the pastor of New Beginnings Family Church of Lubbock in 2000. Ray married Gloria Evans on Feb. 14, 1992. He was preceded in death by a brother, Al Hamlin, in 1997. He is survived by his wife, Gloria; daughters, Diana Walden, Denise Shew and Jeana Townsend, all of Lubbock; sons, Danny Ray Sprague of Brownfield and Tim Freeman of Wolfforth; brothers, Wayne, Joey and Marty, all of Lubbock; sisters, Kay Armstrong of Lubbock and Kathy Schoonvelt of Levelland; along with 14 grandchildren. The family will have visitation at the funeral home 6 to 7 p.m. tonight.
