      H.A. 'Bud' Porter

      STEPHENVILLE - H.A. "Bud" Porter, 90, formerly of Big Spring, died Thursday in a local hospital after a long illness.

      Graveside services were held Saturday in Mount Olive Memorial Park in Big Spring with the Rev. Monroe Teeters officiating, directed by Myers & Smith Funeral Home of Big Spring.

      Mr. Porter was born in Grit and moved to Howard County in 1949 from Mason County. He worked for Howard County in the road department for many years and was a farmer. He was a member of Coahoma First Baptist Church and was the widower of Myrtle Bishop Porter, whom he married in Mason County.

      Survivors include four daughters, Irene Thurman of San Antonio, Wanda Davis of Junction, Annette Miller of Big Spring and Kay Fraser of Stephenville; 12 grandchildren; and many great grandchildren.
