JUNCTION
Wanda Joy Davis, 86, died Saturday, Sept. 23, 2017. Funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. today, Monday, Sept. 25, at the First Baptist Church in Junction. Interment will follow in the Junction City Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Kimble Funeral Home.

Wanda Davis
December 8, 1930 - September 23, 2017
Wanda Joy Davis, 86, passed from this life on September 23, 2017 at a hospital in Fredericksburg.
Wanda Davis was born to Herman Alvin Porter and Lema Patricia Coldiron, December 8, 1930 in Coahoma, Texas. At the age of five, her parents divorced leaving Wanda and her older sister, Helen to be raised by a diligent loving father. Life in those days was hard during the depression. Her dad found himself in Mason Texas, needing childcare for his daughters while he worked at whatever job that was available. Myrtle Bishop who had a child of her own was looking for ways to support herself and her daughter, Irene Eckert, by providing childcare. These circumstances must have been an act of God leading to the marriage of Herman and Myrtle. Their marriage and subsequent family were to last until death separated them years later. Wanda had two more sisters born to this new union, the oldest one was Annette and the youngest one was named Shirley Kay. The blended family was truly a blessing for everyone involved. Wanda cherished Myrtle and her sisters to her dying breath.
At the age of fifteen, on June 5, 1945 she married a young soldier, William Abner "Ab" Davis, who was just returning home from combat in the Philippines. They settled in Junction Texas and started their family. Surrounded by a large family of Davis'; life happened. After raising all four children to school age, she re-entered high school and paid to take bookkeeping and typing classes in order to help improve the family income. After working many years in the two local banks and as City Secretary in Junction, she retired. Wanda was a member of the First Baptist Church in Junction.
Wanda was preceded in death by her husband "Ab" nine years ago and sister, Helen Porter Grainger.
Those left to honor her memory include four children, Dwight Davis and wife Barbara, Wayne Davis and wife Vicki, Ricky Davis and wife Sandie, and Helen Davis Wissner and husband, Clayton; a multitude of grandchildren and great grandchildren; three sisters, Irene Thurman, Annette Miller and husband Lynn, and Shirley Kay Fraser and husband Butch; many nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be held 2:00 PM, Monday, September 25, 2017at the First Baptist Church in Junction. Interment will follow in the Junction City Cemetery.
