Dwane Joseph Gramann
November 9, 1926 - May 30, 2022
Dwane Joseph Gramann, 95, of Houston, Texas, passed away on Monday May 30, 2022. He was born in Houston, Texas, on November 9, 1926, to Henry Theodore Gramann and Myrtle Ivey Dincans Gramann. Dwane grew up in the Denver Harbor neighborhood, 3.7 miles away from Songwood where he lived for the last 38 years of his life. He graduated from Saint Thomas High School and joined the United States Navy where he was a trained electrician's mate. He received an honorable discharge from the Navy as Fireman First Class on July 19th, 1946. He met Rosa Martha Garcia Pena in Inez, Texas, in 2003 and married on July 2, 2004.
Dwane was preceded in death by his parents, Henry Theodore and Myrtle Ivy Dincans Gramann, brother Henry Thomas Gramann, sister-in-law Georgimaye Hofer Gramann, sister Ardith Mary Ann Gramann Coyle, brother-in-laws Harry William Lee Coyle, James Dare Shepherd, and Henry Earl Uffen, nephews Joseph Andrew Gramann and Dan Shepherd, niece Ana Shepherd Mangione and step-daughter Jimena Siciliano.
Dwane lived a long and colorful life and never met a stranger with whom he couldn't start up a conversation. He worked as foreman for Armco Steel Incorporated for 35 years. Between 1981 and 2008 he formed a house flipping business partnership with his brother-in-law Henry Uffen. He held HVAC certification and an exterminator's license; a jack of all trades who could truly fix anything. He loved helping people and teaching them how to fix things themselves. He was an active member of the Songwood Civic Club for 30 years and had a passion for raising beagle hounds for hunting and raising and riding horses. Dwane was full of mischief and humor until his last breath.
Dwane is survived by his cherished son D J Gramann II (Michael Anderson) of Minneapolis, MN; his loving wife Rosa Martha Gramann of Houston; his step children Mariana Siciliano, Antonio Siciliano, Juan Pablo Siciliano of Mexico City; his step-daughter Kimberly Louise Lance of Crosby, TX; his sister Myrtle Loyola Honey Shepherd of Rockport, TX; nieces Patricia Illeen Coyle (Rene Lerma) of Edna, TX, Ardith Colleen Ann Coyle Fox (James Douglas Fox) of Georgetown, TX, Pat Shepherd Best of Rockport; and his nephews Henry Thomas Gramann of Portland, OR and Kenneth D Gramann of San Leon, TX.
He is also survived by chosen family Lucy Barnhill, Corine Barnhill Blanco (Pedro), Mike Barnhill (Cindy) and Laura Barnhill all of Houston, TX; along with many other dear family members and friends. He was loved and will be missed by a huge extended family in Inez, TX.
A visitation for Dwane will be held Sunday, June 5, 2022 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Brookside Funeral Home, 13747 Eastex Freeway, Houston, TX 77039. A rosary service will occur Sunday, June 5, 2022 at 7:00 PM, 13747 Eastex Freeway, Houston, TX 77039. A funeral service will occur Monday, June 6, 2022 at 10:00 AM, 13747 Eastex Freeway, Houston, TX 77039. A burial will occur Monday, June 6, 2022 at Brookside Memorial Park Cemetery, 13747 Eastex Freeway, Houston, TX 77039.
Pallbearers: Michael Anderson, Rene Lerma, Mike Barnhill, Salvatore Mangione, Michael Mangione and Wyatt Brzymialkiewicz.
Honorary Pallbearers: Tommy Gramann and Kenney Gramann.
