Notes - Obituary:
J. Gayle Scott
Joyce Gail Scott, 72, of Austin, passed away on September 7, 2022. Gail lost her battle with cancer but went peacefully at her home with family by her side.
She was born to the late Roy and Lynece Hicks (later Irby) in Beeville, Texas. She graduated from AC Jones High School in 1968, and attended universities around central Texas, including UT Austin, Southwest Texas, and Texas A&M.
Gail is survived by her loving son, Shane; granddaughter Alice; and her siblings Ron, Sandy, and Jason.
Gail was a colorful soul with a big, bright personality. She loved music, and was an avid dancer, having a particular interest in contra and square dancing. She possessed a remarkable green thumb, and always had a flourishing garden as well as a wealth of knowledge on how to make things grow. Gail found true joy in simple pleasures in life, and she radiated warmth, kindness, and a genuine freedom of spirit.
A memorial will be held on Friday, September 30, 2022 at 11 a.m. at the Mayfield Park Cottage and Gardens. Please consider a donation to a local cancer charity in lieu of sending flowers.
