- Obituary:
Rebecca Susan Dixon
October 20, 1952 - June 25, 2016
TRAVERSE CITY - Rebecca S. Dixon, age 63, passed away Saturday, June 25, 2016 at Munson Medical Center in Traverse City after suffering a stroke.
Rebecca was born October 20, 1952, in Odessa, Texas to Charles and Sue (Hampton) Johnson. Becky grew up in west Texas and went to high school at Pecos High School. She moved to Traverse City in 1987 where she met her late husband, Dan Dixon. They both worked in the family business, LIDSCO with her father, Charlie. Dan and Becky loved living on the Boardman River, spending many hours with friends and family.
Becky was known for her kind heart and generous spirit. She always thought of others first and went out of her way to make everyone feel comfortable. Becky was very thoughtful and often did things such as send unexpected cards in the mail or give sentimental gifts to those she loved "just because."
Becky loved music, and would often play her guitar and sing favorite folk and country songs at family gatherings. Becky got a thrill out of watching scary movies and musicals and was often found with headphones on listening to Prince or Andrea Bocelli. Her sense of humor was contagious, and she thoroughly enjoyed playing jokes on unsuspecting friends and family. Becky also loved creating things with her hands--from cooking elaborate meals to arranging flowers and making holiday ornaments. More than anything, she loved spending time with her family.
Becky is survived by her daughter Erin (Rob) Davis, of Hilton Head, SC and her grandchild, Ashley Davis, a sister, Melissa (Enda McGonigle) Johnson and a cousin Cindy (David) Dixon.
She was preceded in death by her spouse, Dan Dixon, her parents Charles and Sue Johnson and brother, Jigger Johnson.
A visitation will be held at the Reynolds-Jonkhoff Funeral Home on Sunday, July 10th from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that any memorial contributions in Becky's honor be sent to Parkinson's Network North, P.O. Box 5734, Traverse City, MI 49696.
The family is being cared for by Reynolds-Jonkhoff Funeral Home and Cremation Services.
