  Obituary: KUBENA, John L., 86, of Houston, formerly of Caldwell, died Thursday. Services 10 a.m. Saturday at Cook's Point Brethran Church near Caldwell. Burial, church cemetery. Survivors: wife, Lydia Kubena of Houston; sons, Marvin M. Kubena of Houston, J.L. Kubena of Huffman; daughter, Margaret Smith of Houston; brother, Frank J. Kubena of Caldwell; sister, Albina Williams of Caldwell; seven grandchildren. (Phillips-Luckey Funeral Home, Caldwell) (Published in The Austin American-Statesman on August 14, 1981) Obituary: John L. Kubena John L. Kubena, 86, of Houston, died Thursday morning in a Houston hospital. Funeral will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Cooks Point Brethren Church in Caldwell. Burial will follow in the church cemetery, with the Rev. Norman G. Haisler officiating. Kubena, a retired farmer, was born in Burleson County and lived there most of his life. He was very active in church and community activities, and was a member of the Woodmen of the World lodge. He is survived by his wife, Lydia K. Kubena of Houston; two sons, Marvin M. Kubena of Houston and J.L. Kubena of Huffman; a daughter, Margaret Smith of Houston; one brother, Frank J. Kubena of Caldwell; one sister, Albina Williams of Caldwell; and seven grandchildren.
