Rites Saturday for Lucile Maurer
A memorial service is planned at 2 p.m. Saturday, March 7, at Mountainview Bible Fellowship, formerly the First Baptist Church of Estes Park, for Lucile Maurer, 92, of Estes Park.
Mrs. Maurer died Saturday, Feb. 7.
She was born April 22, 1905, in Stamps, Ark., and raised in Shreveport, La., the daughter of Isaac Newton Houston and Cora Belle Dance Houston.
Mrs. Maurer received her bachelor's degree from Northwestern University, and taught briefly at Dodd College in Shreveport.
She married Carl B. Maurer on May 21, 1936, and they lived in Shreveport.
She was primarily a homemaker, devoting most of her time to her children and to her church.
The Maurers moved to Estes Park in 1972, where she maintained a residence until last year.
Mr. Maurer died in 1975.
She is survived by two children, Mary Lou Waldman of St. Louis, Mo., and James Maurer of Aurora.
Another daughter, Nancy Gustafson, died in 1996.
Also surviving are four grandchildren, David Waldman, Joanna Maurer, Lisa Gustafson and Carl Gustafson.
Memorial donations may be sent to the Alzheimer's Association, P.O. Box 803638, Chicago, 111., 60680-8984.
