Harvey Lee Ashworth
Harvey Lee Ashworth, 72, died Saturday, Nov. 8, 1997, at his residence after a long illness. He was a retired employee of Mississippi Power and Light in Jackson. He was a past Scout Master of Troop 12 in Marks. He was a Navy veteran of World War II. He was a member of West Heights Baptist Church in Pontotoc.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at the West Heights Baptist Church with the Rev. Dan Robertson officiating. A committal service will be at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday in the Marks Cemetery. Browning Funeral Home of Pontotoc is in charge of the arrangements.
Survivors include his wife, Lilly Mae Self Ashworth of Pontotoc; two sons, Terry Lee Ashworth and his wife, Emily, of Nesbit and Gilbert Lynn Ashworth of Titusville, Fla.; one stepdaughter, Sherry Turnage McDaniel and her husband, David, of Pontotoc; two stepsons, Rick Turnage and his wife, Bonnie, of Baton Rouge, La., and Jeff Turnage and his wife, Susan, of Thaxton; one brother, Manuel Ashworth of Louisville, Ky.; eight grandchildren, Will, Andrew, Amy, Josh, Melissa, Dana, Samantha, and Paul; four stepgrandchildren, Janie, Cara, Kelsey and Jonthan.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Martha Houston Ashworth; and a brother, Cecil Ashworth.
Pallbearers will be Bill Snyder, Keith Self, Aubrey Collums, Johnny Towery, R.V. Perkins and Pete Heard.
Honorary pallbearers will be Tom Deas, Russell Ard, Franklin Merritt, James Wilson, Leonard Pritchard and Ken Morrison and John Craig.
Visitation will be from 3 until 9 p.m. today at the funeral home and from 8 a.m. until service time Tuesday at the funeral home.
Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society, West Heights Baptist Church or Baptist Hospital-North Mississippi Hospice Group, Oxford.

PONTOTOC - Harvey Lee Ashworth, 72, a retired employee of Mississippi Power & Light Co., died of cancer Saturday at his home.
Services are 10 a.m. Tuesday at West Heights Baptist Church with 1:30 p.m. burial in Marks Cemetery. Visitation is 3-9 p.m. today at Browning Funeral Home.
Mr. Ashworth was a native of Kentucky. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II. He was a past Scoutmaster for Troop 12 in Marks. He was a member of West Heights Baptist Church.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at West Heights Baptist Church of Pontotoc, where he was a member, with burial at 1:30 p.m. in Marks (Miss.) Cemetery. Browning Funeral Home here has charge. He was a World War II Navy veteran and a past scoutmaster of Troop 12 of Boy Scouts of America in Marks. Mr. Ashworth, the husband of Lilly S. Ashworth, also leaves two sons, Terry Lee Ashworth of Nesbit and Gilbert Lynn Ashworth of Titusville, Fla.; a stepdaughter, Sherry Turnage McDaniel of Pontotoc; two stepsons, Rick Turnage of Baton Rouge, La., and Jeff Turnage of Thaxton; a brother, Manuel Ashworth of Louisville, Ky., eight grandchildren and four stepgrandchildren. The family requests that any memorials be sent to American Cancer Society, West Heights Baptist Church of Pontotoc or Baptist Memorial Hospital-North Mississippi Hospice Group in Oxford.
