Mr. Melbourne Lewis Cochran
SPRINGHILL, LA/LONGVIEW, TX - Funeral services for Mr. Melbourne Lewis Cochran, age 84, will be held Sunday, October 12, 2000 at 2 pm at Central Baptist, Springhill, with Dr. Ron Harvey officiating. Burial will follow in the Plain Dealing Cemetery under the direction of Bailey Mortuary, Springhill, LA.
Visitation will begin Saturday, October 11, 2003 at 5 pm at Bailey Mortuary.
Mr. Cochran was born October 20, 1918 in Springhill, LA to Porter and Gertrude Houston Cochran and went to be with his Lord on October 10, 2003 in Longview, TX. He was a native and life long resident of Springhill, LA where he lived until recently moving to Longview, TX. Mr. Cochran at ended Springhill schools, married Nettie Hazel Covington of Chalybeate Springs, LA, July 10, 1941, he was drafted into the Army during WWII, was self-employed in several business ventures including Logging and the Dairy and Egg industries. Also, was a long time and devoted member, deacon and Sunday school teacher at Central Baptist Church in Springhill.
He is survived by his wife of 62 wears, Nettie Hazel Covington Cochran of Chalybeate Springs LA daughter, Candace Cochran Stahl and husband, Lewis P. Stahl of Longview, TX: two grandchildren, Gavin Lewis Stahl and wife, Kristin of Longview, TX, Melissa Michonne Stahl Vela and husband, Rick of Waco, TX; five great grandchildren, Madison, Abigail and Emily Stahl and Grayson and Adeline Vela; sisters, Maggie Cochran Wallace and Gertie Ann Cochran Twitty, both of Springhill, LA.
Mr. Cochran was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, J.L. Cochran and infant son, Stanley Lewis Cochran.
Pallbearers will be Deacons of Central Baptist Church.
