- Obituary:
Funeral services for Mrs. Maggie Cochran Wallace, 85, of Sarepta, was held at 10 a.m., today, November 24, 2006 at Central Baptist Church with the Rev. Tim Everett and the Rev. Johnny Adkins officiating. Burial will follow at Springhill Cemetery under the direction of Bailey Mortuary, Springhill.
Visitation was held from 5 until 8 p.m., Thursday, November 23.
Mrs. Wallace was born October 29, 1921, in Sarepta, to Porter and Gertrude Houston Cochran and died on November 21, at her residence in Sarepta, following a lengthy illness. She was a lifelong resident of this area, a faithful member of Central Baptist Church, a bookkeeper and a homemaker.
She is preceded in death by her parents, her previous husband, Donald Coleman McDonald; and her brothers, Melbourne Cochran and James Lazarus Cochran.
She is survived by her husband of 56 years, John Freeman Wallace of Sarepta; two sons, James Milton "Jimmy" McDonald of Sarepta and John Edward "Johnny" Wallace and wife Nancy Robertson of Downsville; a daughter, Mary McDonald Evans and husband James Ray of Monroe; two granddaughters, Jane Elspeth Wallace and Michelle Williams Moon and husband Cohn; a grandson, Ian Hartford Wallace; a great-grandson, Jacob Gardner, a sister, Gertieann Cochran Twitty of Springhill; sisters-in-law, Nettie Covington Cochran of Longview, Texas, Belva Torrence of Springhill and Elvira Wallace of Magnolia, Ark.
Pallbearers were Eric Simmons, Billy Sample, Buddy Simmons, Joe Curtis, John Horne and David Sawyer.
Honorary pallbearers will be Ray Burnham and Benny Jones.
