    • Obituary:

      SHREVEPORT, LA - Funeral services for Wilmer V. Sistrunk, 87, will be held at 11:30 am, Wednesday, June 10, 2009 at Rose-Neath Southside Chapel. Officiating will be Reverend Todd Mallory. Interment will follow in Forest Park West Cemetery.

      The family to receive friends at the funeral home from 5:00 pm until 7:00 pm on Tuesday, June 9.

      Mr. Sistrunk was born on October 11, 1921 in Mitchell, LA to George Wiley and Ruth Sistrunk. He passed away on June 5, 2009 in Shreveport, LA. Wilmer was a veteran of WWII as seamen 2nd Class in the US Coast Guard and a longtime shop foreman of Caddo Radiator of Shreveport.

      He was preceded in death by his former wife, Elizabeth Bumgardner Sistrunk; his parents; six brothers and three sisters. Mr. Sistrunk is survived by his wife of 45 years, Betty Bridges Sistrunk; his sons, Virgil Wayne Sistrunk and his wife, Joan and Terry DeLane Sistrunk: stepchildren, Robert Mathis and wife, Cindy, Ronney Mathis, David Mathis and wife, Cindy and Dianne Mathis; numerous step-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

      The family would like to express a special thanks to the Doctors and Staff of LifeCare Hospital Main, for their excellent care, compassion and their professionalism.
