Constance Devillier Butaud passed away on December 30, 2008 from complications after extensive heart surgery. Connie made her home in Boerne, Texas but she was a native of Rayne, Louisiana. She graduated from Rayne High School in 1957. She then entered a technical college where she studied cosmetology. In May 1959 she married her high school sweetheart Lou Butaud, Jr. In August 1959 she joined her husband on what would become a twenty year adventure in the United States Air Force. Her life as an Air Force wife took the family to Arizona, Utah, Alabama, Texas, and Washington D.C., on to Louisiana and back to Texas. While in Washington D.C., Connie was selected to head up a Mardi Gras Ball at Bolling Air Force Base. It was a resounding success and a tribute to her ability to work successfully with people. In 1970, Connie was nominated for the honor of Air Force Wife of the Year. After her children were older Connie worked as a receptionist at Century 21, then at USAA, a financial services company, in San Antonio, Texas, in the Property & Casualty and Travel Agency areas. Connie loved to travel. After retirement, she and her husband traveled extensively in their recreational vehicle, on cruise ships and numerous trips by automobile. Travels took them to most of the states, Mexico, Cayman Islands, Costa Rica, Panama, Jamaica, Canada, Alaska and Europe. She was a charter member and officer of the Traveling Supremes, a recreational vehicle travel club. She was also Wagon Master for many RV rallies sponsored by the Traveling Supremes. She was noted for pulling together spectacular rallies. Connie was a dedicated volunteer at St. Peter the Apostle Catholic Church in Boerne, Texas. She was instrumental in providing support and care for several Hurricane Katrina families hosted by the parish. Her loving and caring attitude, and continued moral support and contact, helped these families to regain their dignity and move on to successful new lives. Connie's passion was her children and grandchildren. She loved anything and everything that had to do with children and grandchildren. And, they loved her in return. They all enjoyed visiting Granny's house.
Connie is survived by her husband of 50 years, Louis C. Butaud, Jr., her daughters Marla Holsomback of Marksville, LA, Nadine Taylor of Sedalia, CO, and her son Mark Butaud of Castle Rock, CO; her sister Carol Fink of Prairieville, LA; her brother Alan Broussard of San Francisco, CA, and sister Cynthia Leal of Rayne, LA; grandchildren Emily, Michael, Dustin, Celissa, Brandon, Breeana Kameron, Connor, Calvin, Carson, Haley, Jacob and great grandchildren Andrew and Anthony.
