    • Obituary:

Steve Winford McCaleb, born October 7, 1947 in Goose Creek, TX, went home to the Lord on June 6, 2014 after a courageous battle with cancer.

Steve lived his life to the fullest. He served his country in the Army before spending his career in the petrochemical industry. He never saw anything as a challenge which could not be overcome and went on to excel at everything to which he dedicated himself. Active from a young age, he excelled in sports such as racquetball, golf, softball, and weightlifting, was gifted at culinary arts, and he served for years as a volunteer fireman. He was a fan of geology and spent the last years of his life dedicated to his rock polishing craft and was a member of the Houston Gem and Mineral Society. Known best for his sense of humor (which he had right up until the end), he never met a stranger and was loved by all who knew him.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 23 years, Leslie; son Jason McCaleb of Anchorage, AK; daughter and son-in-law Ashley and Jess Motter of Pasadena, TX; daughter and future son-in-law Sierra McCaleb and Josh Lewis of La Porte, TX; grandson Thorin McCaleb of Anchorage, AK; brother and sister-in-law Earl and Bonnie McCaleb of Montgomery, TX; brother-in-law Ronnie Drake of Mont Belvieu; one nephew, three nieces, and many great-nieces and great-nephews and extended family. He is preceded in death by his parents, Earl and Margie McCaleb and his sister, Judy Drake.

His "going-away" party is to be held on Tuesday, June 10 at 7:30pm at the Del Angel Funeral Home (901 S. Main, Pasadena, TX 77506) and, per his request, no black is to be worn for his celebration of life. His interment will be held Wednesday, June 11 at 10:45am at the Houston National Cemetery (10410 Veterans Memorial Drive, Houston, TX 77038). Steve, known as husband, father, brother, uncle, and, to his friends, "Elvis," will be missed until our time comes to join him.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the McCaleb Memorial Fund payable to Leslie or Sierra McCaleb. Please send contributions to the following address:
