      John David Koerth
      August 24, 1954 - August 26, 2024

On Monday, August 26, 2024, Mr. John David Koerth passed away. If one word could be used to describe John, it would be "passionate". Over the course of 70 years of life John became known for his passions in life. He was passionate in his love for his wife, children, and grandchildren. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and spending time at his ranch. John was an ardent collector of rocks, fossils, and precious stones. Lastly, he was passionate about the Dallas Cowboys.

John was born on August 24, 1954, in Fort Worth, TX to Dr. Charles John Koerth Jr. and Gladys German Koerth. He married the love of his life, Donna Fava Koerth on June 8, 1980, at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Shelby Mississippi.

Throughout his life John had a wide range of accomplishments. As a scholar he attended St. Mary's University in San Antonio and graduated from Sul Ross State University in Alpine, TX. When he worked as a geologist in the oil field, he authored a book, Identification of Cuttings Samples. This book has been used by many companies in the oil and gas industry. As a salesman he received numerous awards for his work including "Salesman of the Year".

Yet beyond his accomplishments it is the memories that he leaves behind that his family cherishes. His daughters, Angela and Lauren, will look back fondly on him coaching softball or bringing his rock collection to their class. John even made an impact on their classmates by giving each child a rock that he had polished, as he taught them about rocks. His family will remember the many vacations they took together. He also took them to games at the old Cowboys Stadium in Irving, where he had season tickets. When they watched the Cowboys at home, he made sure that dinners were planned around the games and that there were always chips and queso. At home he was fondly known as the Cookie Monster because of his love of chocolate chip cookies.

As you can see John was a man of many passions and accomplishments. He is preceded in death by parents, Charles and Gladys Koerth; brother Charles John Koerth III; brother-in-law David Van Every; sister-in-law Mary Jo Zummo; and brother-in-law John Searson. He is survived by his wife Donna Koerth, his two daughters; Angela Langley and husband, James; and Lauren Enger and husband, Kristopher. To further cherish his memory are his grandchildren Kolton, Kase, and Anabelle. He leaves also his sister Kay Searson of San Antonio, TX; his brother and sister-in-law Paul and Belva Koerth of Austin, TX; sister-in-law Betty Van Every; and brother-in-law Nat Zummo.

Mrs. Donna Koerth request that family and friends join her on Sunday, September 8, 2024 to honor Mr. John David Koerth at the Ted Dickey Funeral Home of Plano, TX at 2pm for a reception with a Celebration of Life to immediately follow at 3pm.
