Karen Greer, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt and friend peacefully passed away on the 15th of January 2024 in Houston, Texas. She was born on the 25th of October 1947 in Conroe, Texas, the daughter of Lloyd Wilbert and Zola Mae Futch.
Karen was a ray of sunshine in the lives of those around her. Her warm smile and kind heart left an indelible mark on all who were fortunate enough to know her. She was a pillar of strength for her family and friends, always ready to offer support and love.
Growing up Karen was surrounded by a large and loving family. She was preceded in death by her parents, Lloyd Wilbert and Zola Mae Futch, as well as her brothers Buster, Bobby, Billy, Buddy, and Wayne Futch, and her beloved son Bryan Stacy. Their memories will forever be cherished in the hearts of those who loved them.
Karen's legacy lives on through her surviving family. She leaves behind her loving husband of 49yrs and 8mos, Joe Greer, who stood by her side through thick and thin, sharing a bond that was unbreakable. Together, they weathered life's storms and celebrated its joys, creating a lifetime of memories. Karen's sister, Carol, and husband Jack Chambers also mourn her passing, cherishing the memories they shared as sisters and best friends.
Karen was a devoted mother to her daughter, Christy Sparks. Their bond was unbreakable, and the love they shared was immeasurable. Karen's dedication to her children was unwavering, providing guidance, unconditional love, and support throughout their lives.
Her greatest joy in life came from being a grandmother to her seven grandchildren (Kayla, Jared, Brandy, Amanda, Kimberly, Brittnay, and Taylor) and nine great-grandchildren (Jaxson, Brynna, Rhiannon, Jaina, Destiny, Caleb, Ella, Dalton, and Emerick. Karen embraced her role as a grandmother with open arms, showering her grandchildren with love, affection, and wisdom. She cherished every moment spent with them, creating lasting memories that will be treasured for generations to come.
Beyond her family, Karen had a passion for baking. Her culinary skills were renowned among her family and friends, bringing joy to those who savored each delicious bite. Karen's baking skills were a testament to her love, as she poured her heart and soul into each creation.
Aside from her culinary skills, Karen had a gift for painting. She would spend hours immersed in her artwork, skillfully bringing her imagination to life on canvas. Her paintings captured the beauty of nature.
In honoring Karen's wishes, a private memorial service will be held to celebrate her remarkable life. While we grieve the loss of such an extraordinary woman, let us also remember the joy she brought to our lives and the lasting impact she made on those around her.
Karen Greer will forever be remembered for her kind heart, infectious laughter, and unwavering love for her family. Her legacy will continue to live on through the countless lives she touched. May her soul rest in eternal peace.
This past year Karen bravely fought Stage 4 Chronic Kidney Disease (CKD), undergoing countless days of dialysis and treatments. In lieu of flowers or other gifts the family has asked for donations to be sent to the American Kidney Fund.
