    • Obituary:

      Spence Rites Be Held Friday P.M.

      Funeral services for W. A. Spence, who passed away yesterday morning at eleven o'clock at his home, 120 Drake, following a brief illness, will be held Friday afternoon at four o'clock at the Fisher Street Methodist Church, conducted by Rev. J. L. Hoggard, church pastor, assisted by Rev. L. L. Shoptaw and Rev. L. G. Miller.

      Interment will be in Oaklawn Cemetery in charge of Gregg Funeral Home. Pall bearers will be: active, Pat Lyons, Ersel Odell, Lyle Odell, Orville McErven, Dillard Hendrix, and Holman Mabry; honorary, Bud Davis, John Dacus, John Griggs, Lee Daniels, R. C. Cloyd, Foster Sethman, Tom Hoover, and Aubry Futrell.

      Surviving are: his wife, one son, Homer Spence, three daughters, Mrs. Bertha Mae Adrian, of Denver, Colo., Miss Delores Spence and Mrs. Vertise Berry, of this city; two brothers, Clyde Spence, of Jonesboro, and J. L. Spence, of Longview, Texas; and his step-mother, Mrs. Willie Spence, of this city.

      The deceased was well known in Jonesboro. He was a member of the Fisher Street Methodist Church and was employed at the Cotton Belt roundhouse.
