Ralph Aloysius Gossen
March 4, 1934 - June 18, 2025
Rayne, LA - Funeral services will be held on Monday, June 23, 2025 at a 10:00 am Mass of Christian Burial at St. Leo IV Catholic Church in Rayne for Ralph Aloysius Gossen, 91, who died Wednesday, June 18, 2025 at Carpenter House in Lafayette, LA.
Interment will be in the St. Leo IV Cemetery in Rayne, LA.
Rev. Mitchell Guidry, Pastor of St. Leo IV Catholic Church will be the Celebrant of the Funeral Mass and will conduct the funeral services.
Ralph was a graduate of St. Joseph High School in 1952 and SLI (ULL) in 1963. He also attended the Seminary but told his parents he would rather play football. He served in the United States Army from May 1956 to April 1958. He was a longtime parishioner of St. Leo IV Catholic Church, St. Leo IV Choir, and the Holy Name Society. He would look forward to the German Fest each year with his family and friends. He enjoyed dancing, playing his harmonica for family and friends, watching the New Orleans Saints, UL Ragin Cajuns sports and his biggest love was watching his grandchildren play sports.
Survivors include his two sons, Randy Gossen and spouse Mary-Elizabeth Gossen, John Gossen, one step daughter, Donna Butler Vincent and spouse Timothy Vincent, two step sons, Doug Butler, David E. Butler and spouse Dusty Butler, one sister, Henrietta Gossen Didier, three brothers, Gilbert Gossen and spouse Florence, Donald Gossen and spouse Henrietta, Herbert Joseph Gossen, Sr., thirteen grandchildren, two great grandchildren, and one great grandbaby on the way.
He was preceded in death by 1st wife, Marcella Elizabeth Habetz Gossen, 2nd wife, Marjorie Marie Devillier Gossen, daughter in law, Fay Fruge Gossen, parents, Henry Peter Gossen and Julia Rose Olinger Gossen, sister, Flavia Diane Gossen, brother in law, Julian Didier, sister in law, Elaine Leonards Gossen.
Pallbearers will be Jaaroed Butler, Brody Butler, Luke Gossen, Sam Gossen, Andre' Vincent, Austin Vincent, Mathew Ewing..
A Rosary will be prayed Sunday, June 22, 2025 at 6:00 pm in Gossen Funeral Home in Rayne, LA.
The family requests that visitation be observed in Gossen Funeral Home in Rayne, LA on Sunday, June 22, 2025 from 2:00 pm to 8:00 pm and on Monday, June 23, 2025 from 8:00 am to 9:30 am.
The Gossen family would like to give a special Thank You to Southwind Nursing Home and its staff and The Carpenter House and it staff for all the loving care they gave to him and his family.
