      G. Bryan Gouger
      Dec. 9, 1896 - Sept. 7, 1993

      Funeral services for G. Bryan Gouger, 96, of Bryan will be at 11 a.m. Friday at First Christian Church of Bryan-College Station.

      Norman L. Lyons, pastor, will officiate. Burial will be in Bryan City Cemetery. Arrangements are by Memorial Funeral Chapel in Bryan.

      Mr. Gouger died Tuesday afternoon in Crestview Methodist Retirement Community.

      He was born in Stockdale and moved to Bryan 18 years ago. Mr. Gouger graduated from Texas A&M with a degree in electrical engineering and spent his career as an electrical engineer with San Antonio Public Service Co. He also was a retired assistant general manager of purchasing for the San Antonio Public Service Board.

      Mr. Gouger, who played football for coach Dana X. Bible, was an all-conference basketball and twice an all-conference football player. He was a member of the Former Students' Association and the oldest active member of the Letterman's Association.

      Mr. Gouger was a member of the Texas Cavaliers for more than 50 years and in 1936 was grand marshal in the organization's first Fiesta River Parade. He was a member of First Christian Church.

      Mr. Gouger served in the Navy during World War I.

      Survivors include his wife, Willie Mae Sheppard Gouger of Bryan; a stepdaughter, Mimi McKnight of San Diego; a nephew, Dr. Dan A. Russell Jr. of San Antonio; three nieces, Nancy Kangerga of Henderson, Olivia Mason of Fort Worth and Gloria Gouger Massey of Carmel, Calif.; and many great-nieces and great-nephews.

      Memorials may be made to First Christian Church of Bryan-College Station, 900 S. Ennis St., Bryan 77803, to Texas A&M University, or any charity.
