JOYCE MAE WALLACE
SAN ANGELO - Joyce Mae Autery Wallace, 67, passed and left us on Saturday, July 21, 2007, after a long illness. She was born in Iraan, Texas, on Feb. 24, 1940, to T.E. Autery and Clara Mae Schneider Autery, who both preceded her in death.
Joyce is survived by her husband and best friend, Doug Wallace of Miles, Texas; her two sons, Doc Turk of Kilgore, Texas, and his wife, Patsy, and Zane Turk of Iraan, Texas, and his wife, Lori; step-daughter Geneva Palmer of San Angelo; eight grandchildren Tracey Turk, Stacey Turk, Jade Barkhimer, Micah Turk, Caleb Turk, Kati Palmer, Cara Palmer and Matthew Palmer; and two great-grandchildren, Riley Turk and Josi Barkhimer. She is also survived by her brother, Ed Autery of Gardendale, Texas, and his wife, Tommie; and her nieces, Joyce Ann, Vikki and Diane; four great-nephews; and three great-nieces.
Joyce grew up in Sheffield, Texas, and graduated from Iraan High School in the class of 1958. She loved the open country of West Texas and was a cheerleader, rodeo queen and a cowgirl. She later moved to San Angelo and then to Miles where she worked many years for Johnson & Johnson at Ethicon as a supervisor. She lived life working hard, loving unselfishly and giving all she had. She made many friends because she was always looking to help someone. Perhaps her life was too hard and too short but now she can rest and we will all miss her smile, mischievous blue eyes, and her giving spirit.
The family would like to give heartfelt appreciation for those at Park Plaza Nursing Home who loved and took care of her in her last years. We would also like to say thank you to her many friends she made there at Park Plaza.
A memorial service will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday, July 25, at Sheffield Church of Christ in Sheffield, Texas, with visitation following at the West Side Community Center. There will be no graveside service.
