- Obituary:
Walker, Margaret Ann affectionately known as "Mickey" to her friends and family, passed away peacefully on Monday, May 28, 2012. Margaret was born on March 4, 1923 in Greeley, Colorado, the youngest of seven siblings. While living in Southern California, she met the love of her life, active duty solider John Randall Walker. They were married on March 7, 1944, just before John's deployment to the North Pacific. After her husband's return from WWII, Margaret and John moved back to John's hometown of Miami, Florida, where they lived happily for over 50 years. In her later years, Margaret moved with her husband to Boca Raton, Florida, until John passed away in 2007. She is survived by her four daughters, Janet Parker, Merrilee Walker, Kathleen Glickman, and Susan Barrows; her three sons-in law, Tommy, Larry, and Raymond; her six grandchildren, Chahine, her spouse Jere, Jacob, Eric, Kristen, Brian, his spouse Jillian, and Rachel; and her four great-grandchildren, Sierra, Reed, Alexander, and Cody. Margaret lived a life filled with love, kindness, and giving. She was active in her dedication to charity, serving selflessly for the March of Dimes, the Red Cross, the Girl Scouts, her church, and numerous heart fund drives. She volunteered for everything, and anything. Margaret also knew how to love unconditionally, and she gave of herself to everyone around her: she was the open door and a loving shoulder to friends, neighbors, and anyone in need. Margaret not only knew how to love, but she also knew how to show it. She knew, and she taught to all of us, the importance and simple, sweet pleasure of spending time together. She began our tradition of summer camping trips and monthly birthday parties. She always brought us together, she always made sure we spent time with those we loved, and that we let each other know just how much we loved each other. For Margaret, time spent together, in and around family, was at the heart of who she was. And she made it at the heart of who we all are today, and who we will be in the future. We are, all of us, so grateful. We will miss her.
