Funeral Services For Mrs. Sallie Ross, 86, Held Wednesday
Mrs. Sallie Frances Ross, age 86, passed away in the early hours of Tuesday morning at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Milton Rice.
Funeral services were held Wednesday afternoon from the chapel of Phillips & Luckey funeral home with the Rev. R. L. Brown, pastor of the Baptist church at Hearne officiating. The assisting minister was Rev. O. J. Morgan. Burial was made in the Harmony cemetery south of Rockdale. Grandsons served as casket attendants.
Mrs. Ross was born in Burleson county, Texas, near Chriesman on July 16, 1865. She was married to D. A. Ross in 1880 at Caldwell, and thirteen children were born to the couple, eight of whom survive.
Mrs. Ross had lived in Milam county for long years, and for the past four years had made her home with Mr. and Mrs. Rice. For the past two years she had been an invalid. She was a member of the Christian church.
There survive the following sons and daughters: W. J. Ross of Rockdale, E. L. Ross of Sweetwater, J. M. Ross of Milano, E. J. Ross of College Station, Mrs. W. M. Rice of Rockdale, Mrs. Walter Jericho of Millican, Mrs. Rufus Breland of Navasota, Mrs. A. L. Rosprim of College Station; also 40 grandchildren and 66 great-grandchildren.

Funeral Service For Mrs. Ross Held At Rockdale
Mrs. Sallie Lockley Ross, 86, passed away at the home of her daughter, Mrs. W. M. Rice in Rockdale on September 25 and funeral services were held at Philip-Luckey Funeral Chapel in Rockdale at 3 p.m. on Wednesday, the 26th. Rev. R. L. Brown, pastor of the First Baptist Church in Hearne officiated, assisted by Rev. O. J. Margin of Rockdale.
Interment was in the Harmony cemetery, south of Rockdale, by the side of her late husband, David Ross, a veteran of the Confederate Army.
Eight children survive, they are four daughters, Mrs. A. L. Rosprim of College Station, Mrs. Rufus Breland, Navasota, Mrs. Walter Jerich of Millican and Mrs. W. M. Rice of Rockdale.
Four sons, E. L. Ross, Sweetwater, W. J. Ross of Rockdale, J. M. Ross of Milano and E. J. Ross of College Station.
Other survivors are 41 grandchildren, 66 great grandchildren and 6 great great grandchildren.
