Texas State Cemetery - Austin, Texas, USA

Notes: The 18-acre Texas State Cemetery is for individuals (and spouse as well as unmarried child) who have made an important contribution to Texas. In 1851 General Edward Burleson was the first person buried on what was then private property. In 1854 the State of Texas took it over as a state burial ground. In 1994 there began a full-scale renovation, which included a visitor's center, gallery, pond, columbarium wall, cleaned/ replaced Confederate headstones and general landscaping improvements.
