Thomas C. Fillyaw Gravesite - Norwalk, Florida, USA

Notes: The gravesite of former Confederate Corporal Thomas Cassidy Fillyaw is located in the Ocala National Forest on the bank of the Ocklawaha River near a 19th century steamboat port known as Davenport Landing. After the war, Fillyaw was the landing master. Currently, the area is maintained by the Forest Service, US Department of Agriculture. For specific information regarding the hiking trails near the gravesite, contact general information at 352-625-2520 or visit the for more information about the area as well as a hiking map.

To travel to the gravesite by motor vehicle, take State Road 19 to National Forest Road 77 (on some maps as NFR 74). Travel west on NFR 77 for 2.6 miles, going past NFR 46 on the left and turn right onto NFR 74-7.4 which is less than one tenth of a mile beyond NFR 46. At some point NFR 74-7.4 will end and the rest of the journey which is about 1.2 miles round trip has to be hiked on the Davenport Landing Trail. During the summer months, the trail may be overgrown. The national forest roads may be impassable after rain and may only be accessible to four-wheel drive vehicles.

The grave can also be accessed by river. The Davenport Landing can be used a campsite by those who travel by rowboat, but there are no facilities.
